April Fools' Day is over!

Do you guys like the April Fools' joke this year, the maps for The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle Of Hours?

If you didn't get the joke, here's a bit of context; in 2001, Nintendo released The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle Of Ages and The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle Of Seasons simultaneously for the Game Boy Color.  While each game was a full adventure, the games could be linked - you played one game and continued on to the next one - to unlock secrets, as well as a true ending.  But it's fairly well-known that these games were originally supposed to include three parts - the "Triforce Trilogy".  While Ages featured the goddess/oracle Din, Seasons featured the goddess/oracle Nayru.  But any Zelda fan would know there is also the goddess/oracle Farore.  There are also three themes based on the three parts of the Triforce, that is, Power, Wisdom, and Courage, and Power and Wisdom were already covered in Ages and Seasons, so a third one would've covered Courage.  The theme of three was just asking for a third game, but the awkwardness of linking was supposedly why the third game never came to be.  The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle Of Hours was my vision of what the third piece of the puzzle could've looked like.  While Farore and Courage were not visibly worked into my vision of a third game (though I did mention Farore in the story provided), it has been said that like Ages' two time periods and Seasons' four seasons, this third game would've had puzzles involving day and night, which should be evident in the overworld maps I made.  Besides the two overworlds, I also created nine dungeons.  I thought I might as well go all out.

Though initially conceptualized by RT-55J in December 2006 as a possible April Fools' joke for 2007, it was moved to be a year later, and I picked up the reins by myself in December 2007.  I worked every day to make maps that I hoped would be believable, and now you see the final results.

Do you like it?  Did it fool you?  Was it, perhaps, too subtle, especially if you didn't know the context of the cancelled game?  Should it have been more outlandish, like Mega Man Solid X: Guns Of The Mavericks a couple years back?  Are you having fun working out the puzzles I integrated into the game?  Would you like to learn more about the project?  Then go to the forum already!

Or, check out past April Fools' jokes:

2005: The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening Advance

2006: Mega Man Solid X: Guns Of The Mavericks

2007: Super Kid Icarus

1000000 HITS!

I didn't think I'd see the day when the counter hit seven digits.  One million hits since five years and eleven months ago.  Yeesh, I remember being excited about getting 48 hits that first day.  I recall bragging that my site hit 10000 one time.  This is a hundred times that!

I don't know what to say...but thank you for checking out VGMaps.com!

Want to say something about this milestone?

Nappa: Vegeta!  What does the scouter say about the number of maps on VGMaps.com?

Vegeta: It's OVER 9000!

>_>

The 9000th map is World 8-4 from the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros., from Zeric.  Bowser's Castle itself!  I don't think I posted the last few X000th maps on the front page news here, but I figured that with the "9000" meme and all...:P  Anyway, discuss.
