Thanks for pointing that out. I should have known that side of the room was suspicious. I'll update the map when I have the time. In the future, you can simply email me about a change like that, or post it in my map thread.
2  General Boards / Maps Of The Month / Re: 2016/12: Kirby's Adventure (NES) - Will Mallia on: December 20, 2016, 09:32:57 PM
I love Kirby's Adventure!

One of my first mapping-related activities was related to it. I didn't know anything about emulation, so I tried copying graphics off of the big fuzzy CRT television into Paint. I also didn't know much about game graphics, so I tried counting the pixels and thought that each tile was 14 pixels wide. I made a replica of the entire second room of Rainbow Resort 1 before realizing that the tiles were actually 16x16 instead.

I've never heard of the game before, but looking at the isometric maps makes me really happy. Great job at mapping it!
4  General Boards / Gaming / Re: It's MAR10 today. So what Mario game are you playing or replaying? on: March 10, 2016, 06:22:01 PM
I almost forgot this year, but a tweet from Cartoon Network reminded me. Now that I've remembered, I'll... do something? I would be playing Super Mario Maker, too, but my back injury prevents me from sitting in front of the TV for more than a few minutes.

If you need courses to play, you should try mine! They are guaranteed to not be completely awful: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/profile/Peardian?type=posted

Thanks for the honor! I nearly forgot about making these maps.

Even if my appreciation for the game actually decreased as a result of studying it, I'm still impressed by the tilesets and backgrounds they created. The palettes... that's another story.
6  General Boards / Maps In Progress / Re: Peardian's map projects in progress and planned on: January 22, 2016, 08:00:21 PM
Is it worth it? I'd say it depends on how much of a 2D Mario / SMB3 fan you are. If you love Super Mario Bros. 3 and wish there was more of it, then it's definitely worth it. Or, if you're a big fan of rom hacks/fangames, and you want to experience SMB2 vegetables and SMW enemies in official SMB3 courses, then it's definitely worth it. Also, it's only like $8 for the game, which includes all of SMB3 and classic Mario Bros.

And of course, if you do play it, my maps can help you find all of the collectibles~

I live! Not to bring a new map (not yet) but I do have some exciting news! Nintendo just released Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 on the Wii U virtual console.

The best part? They've included the e-Reader levels! But not just the ones that were released in the US... all of them!

This means we now have official English names for all of the World e+ levels. I don't want to update my maps with the new names (lazy...) but I guess at least the index page links can be updated. So, here are all of the new names. I'm skipping the ones that were already officially translated.

e+-11: Magical Note Blocks 2 > A Musical Trek
e+-12: Airship 1 > Armored Airship
e+-13: Chill Cavern > Ice Dungeon
e+-14: Inner Maze > A Sky-High Adventure
e+-15: Tropical Splash > Sea to Sky
e+-16: Castle à Go-Go > It's a Shoe-In
e+-17: Frappé Snowland > Slip Slidin' Away
e+-18: Frozen Fortress > Ice Cubed
e+-19: Pipe Maze > Puzzling Pipe Maze
e+-20: Spiral Tower > A Towering Tour
e+-21: 60 Seconds > Castle Dash
e+-22: Ropeland > Rich with Ropes
e+-23: Haunted Hall > Vexing Doors
e+-24: Clear Skies > Caped Escape
e+-25: Koopahari Desert > Ground Work
e+-26: Aqua Bars Of Doom > An Aqueous Adventure
e+-27: The Gauntlet > Bowser's Last Stand
e+-28: Hammer Bro. Ship > Koopaling Confusion
e+-29: Bowser's Airship (Part 1) > Bowser's Airship 1
e+-30: Bowser's Airship (Part 2) > Bowser's Airship 2
e+-Promo: Mad Dash > No Time to Dawdle
e+-Promo: Coro Coro Castle > Treacherous Halls

Note: No Time to Dawdle is positioned as the 2nd promo stage, and Treacherous Halls as the 3rd

Finally, I can show you the model I've been working on for the past two years! This is pretty much the main reason I haven't been working on any maps.

(Click for high resolution)

I tried to integrate as many details from the game's area maps as I could, down to the pathways that wind between the trees and placement of the giant bee hives.

Neat! Going by the positions of Kirby, Mario, and Yoshi, I'm assuming it's in alphabetical order, right?

At first I thought the controller was part of it. Tongue

I heard on Monday night, but it didn't really hit me until Tuesday. He will be missed. Cry

D'oh, I completely forgot about updating this thread! I've definitely made some stuff in the past half-year.

A recreation of the Butter Building stage in Kirby Fighters Z.

Orb User (and family) from Super Mario RPG
This one actually comes in three designs: classic, modern (a la Super Mario Galaxy) and Subspace Army

Super Carrot from Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

Blocks from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

and then the big one...

Heavy Mole from Kirby's Adventure!

Introducing... Heavy Mole DX! It's an original redesign based on the "DX" and "EX" bosses from recent Kirby games like Kirby Triple Deluxe.

Lastly, I've made turntable videos of all of my models so far AND uploaded most of them on Sketchfab so you can view them up close in full 3D. Cheesy

Snappy indeed! It only took a single second to load the HTML for the entire SNES page, and loading the whole page only took ~6 seconds from start to finish.
14  General Boards / Maps In Progress / Re: Zelda link to the past live maps on: March 28, 2015, 11:22:13 PM
Seeing the whole map with everything animated and all of the creatures scurrying around brings a big smile to my face. Pretty cool!

The movement patterns of enemies in platformer games makes them ill-suited for something like this, but it seems perfect for top-down view games like this. I bet the world of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire would look great like this, too, with all of the little trainers running around and stuff.
15  General Boards / Gaming / Re: Pixels - Adam Sandler movie about retro arcade games on: March 18, 2015, 02:32:19 PM
I saw the trailer and thought it seemed familiar, but I had forgotten about the original short film until it was mentioned here.

One one hand, yay pixels and video games, but on the other hand... why Adam Sandler? Why?

And I get that the original arcade games are the most widely recognized video games in the world, but it gets boring when every single movie about video games is always "Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and/or Space Invaders"...
