UFC 2009 Undisputed - I've put in quite a few hours on this game since it game out almost a month ago.  I've re-enacted all the classic fights and beat career mode with an undefeated created fighter.  Recently I've been playing online a lot, trying to build up a good record.  My record is something like 135-70, which isn't too bad.  However, me and a couple other friends all use the same account to play online with, so it's not solely my record.



One of the big things I don't like about the game, though, is how when playing online, you can disconnect at any time and have the match become invalid.  So, quite frequently when I'm winning a fight the other player will disconnect and the match becomes void. Supposedly a patch is in the works, but really they shouldn't have let an exploit like this into the finished game.



I've also been playing the old NES a lot lately.



I just beat Ninja Gaiden today for the first time.  It took about 3 or 4 hours, all because of the last boss.  The last boss is on stage 6-4, and for some moronic reason whenever you die on him, you go back to stage 6-1.  Mind you, stages 6-2 and 6-3 are easily the hardest levels in the game and take a lot of practice to be able to beat regularly.  Oh well, now that I beat it I don't have to ever play it again Tongue



Another game I've been working on is Battletoads for NES.  This is the single hardest game I have ever played in my life.  My goal is to beat the game all the way through without the warps, and the farthest I've got after years of trying is stage 8, the Intruder Excluder, and there are still 4 more levels to go.  If I can ever beat this game, I'll have reached the pinnacle of my gaming career.  Last year I spent a good part of the summer trying to beat Battletoads in Battlemaniacs for SNES and succeeded, but that game pales in comparison to the original.

Very nice work Jon.  The Metroid Dread maps are some of the nicest maps to look at I've seen in a while.

I wish I could help you out here.  I've played Day of the Tentacle, and just about every other adventure game made, but not Maniac Mansion.  I've never really been able to get into it.  I am looking forward to your map though - I love seeing the old adventure games mapped out, because they are my favorite genre.

I think it's much better.  The background is no longer all stretched, and the colors are a bit richer.  



Here's how I did it:  Using SNES9x, I used the memory watcher to find all the memory values I needed and then set them to the appropriate values so that Arthur is invincible, has infinite time, and doesn't get knocked back from hits.  Then I disabled the foreground and the sprites (leaving only the back ground) and mapped that.  Next I disabled the background and the sprites and mapped the foreground as it looks AFTER all the terrain changes.  I assembled these, replaced the black background in the foreground map with a bright pink, used The GIMP to make that pink transparent, and then pasted that foreground onto the back ground.  



All in all, it wasn't too hard Smiley  However, this level is only 224 pixels high, i.e. it only scrolled side-to-side.  The next level will be fun, because it scrolls up/down and side to side, and it has these cool rotating towers.  I've got an idea that should make the towers look decent, but we'll see.

Yes, I am alive, I've just been without a computer for the past few months.  Anyway, now that I have a new computer, I figured I'd better kill myself trying to map this game. I've got the first stage mostly done, but that's the easy one Smiley  Here's the not-quite-final map:

If you guys have any better ideas on how to get that dang parallax background to look better behind the main level, let me know.  That's the only idea that I have (stretching it), but it looks really pixelated, like a really old computer game.  Thanks for your tips/critiques, and I'll keep working on the next few levels.

I might do Super C eventually, but right now I'm too busy trying to get settled into an apartment, and then I'll need to get a computer and all that fun stuff.  Right now, though, the maps I would most want to see/make are Earthworm Jim maps...

Is it better than Super Metroid: Redesign?  That was a hard hack, but it was also really well made and was still able to be beat (albeit with save state abuse).  I recognize your user name from Metroid2002 (I lurk there every once in a while) so I assume you know what I'm talking about... Smiley

Oh cool, it's out now.  I haven't been keeping updated on DS releases.  Since I got my DS 2 months ago, I've only purchased 2 games, Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros.  I beat New Super Mario Bros. with a triple star already, and I've essentially beat MKDS - I have a triple star on everything (missions, grand prix) and awesome time trial times.  I even have a pretty decent online record (20-3) - I guess it's time for me to pick up another game.

It's pretty easy to decipher what the games are, and there's two more sets to browse through as well.  If you want to take a look at them, all I can suggest is to refrest the front page a bunch.  I can't find a way to look at them alone anymore.  You used to be able to just paste the "System/RandomMapSets/whatever.png" into the address bar after http://www.vgmaps.com/, but no such luck anymore.

I didn't see any thread already made that's solely for suggestions about the actual site, so I figured "what the heck."  Feel free to post any ideas you have to make the site better in this thread, I guess.  Ideas don't help anyone if you keep them to yourself, you know Tongue



Anyway, something I've been wanting to see something  put to distinguish the newest maps from all the rest.  That is, when you make an update, alongside the table or something just put a *new* or something to distinguish them from all the rest.  This would really help when you upload more maps for a game that already has some.  For example, while the 7th Saga updates were coming in at a regular basis, I had a bit of trouble finding out which maps were just added and which had already been there before.  Yes, I know I could just look at all of them, but this suggestion would save me that little bit of time Tongue

I haven't sent in many maps lately because I've been playing through all the PS2/GCN games that I own but haven't finished yet.  I'm currently blazing though Final Fantasy X-2 trying to get the 100% story completion, in case you wanted to know.
