Video Games Live

My friend brought this to my attention, that it's coming to Edmonton, and looking at the site today, I see that she's right!  It is coming up next on the list, though a date and location and ticket sales aren't yet set up.  I'm guessing it'd be December or January.  (Does anyone really want to be in Edmonton during the winter?)  Maybe I'll ask her if she wants to go, she thought it'd be "pretty freaking cool" to hear the Super Mario Bros. jingle being performed, but I'm sure it's got more than just that.

Actually, looking at the list of games, I'm surprised to see Beyond Good & Evil...I loved that game, but I thought it went pretty much unnoticed this past generation, and yet it's here among big franchises like Mario, Sonic, Castlevania, and Myst.  I don't really care much that Halo is on there...a five-year-old franchise with two games shouldn't be mentioned BEFORE Mario and Zelda...but I gripe too much.

I hope it's cool.  Has anyone gone to this?  Would you say it's any good?

EDIT: Here's a good review.  Sounds neat.  I like the playing of Frogger being accompanied live by the orchestra, and that it includes seeing Martin Leung (the blindfolded Mario pianist you probably have seen on YouTube) there.

I have never been to a Video Games live concert, but whenever such a thing would be around my city sometime, I will almost for sure go to there. I love listening to video game remixes and also like real instruments much (Real Piano sounds great), so I am sure I wouldn't regret such an attendance.

You live in Germany, though, don't you, Grizzly?

Unfortunately, looking at the list, it looks like the closest tour location to where you are is in London, UK, on Nov. 25.

yep. The recent tour dates don't look good but maybe sometime there will also be a concert in Germany. Although I don't think it would ever be in the area around my city, more likely in the capital (as it is the case for the UK and JP concert) or maybe in Leipzig where the Games Convention is settled. But at least these would be places where I could consider attending it.

They're supposed to be avilable today.  Grrr.  Not yet, I guess.  Even if a friend is getting them on Friday, I still want to know how much they are and what kind of seating is available.

No one else is in this topic so I'm bumping it mostly for my own purposes.

Is Martin Leung the guy who can play many videogame tunes on a piano real fast?

I went to the Fusion tour and played with the Wii, but I don't think I'll be going to this concert series.

I'm guessing no one cares but the concert is tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

I'm going on the second day.  Exciting!

Well, I'd care if I could actually get to the concert, but since I can't... And besides, I'm not familiar with at least half of those games, so even though I'm sure their music is good, it wouldn't ring a bell at all to me.

Boy, I'm tired.  I got home at 11:00 PM which was still a decent time (for me) but then I decided to play some Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney: Justice For All.  I thought I was near the end of the second trial but I really wasn't and ended up being awake 'til shortly before 1 AM just to finish it off.  >_<  So I got less than five hours of sleep this morning.

Anyone interested in a review?  Of the concert, I mean?

Unfortunately, they play certain songs at certain venues, and here in Edmonton, we didn't get any Castlevania.  :(
