Map Gab / Re: Pac-In-Time (Game Gear)

Yea, this new layout for the forums is much nicer then the old system.  I too enjoy the way pictures are shown now.  Good work on the maps.  I notice some still have the magenta color, does the Game Gear emulator let you toggle backgrounds and see magenta as a transparency, or do you have to use a separate utility like you have to do with the SNES using vSNES with the zSNES emu?

Back in High School I had an art class that used Amiga computers.  They were great, and of course we played games on it any chance we could get :)

Yea, I know how you feel.  I used to do that with games as well, I must find every item and max out all character stats.  Of course that made the game last much longer and when you don't have a lot of games or the next great RPG is not due out for a while it works great.  But like you I have ended up with a stack of games to play.  So now I just go through and beat the game and move on to the next so I can experience the variety of more games.  Don't feel bad I also decided to skip the Blitzball part of FFX except for the few mandatory games to get through the story line.  I did however max out the characters and do all the side quests that weren't blitzball related.

You speaking of trying to find that rare petaltail reminded me of trying to find the Pink Puff from Final Fantasy II (IV).  You had a 1 in 256 chance of getting them to appear and a 1 in 256 chance once it appeared to get the pink tail from it.  Fortunately I soon learned about the trick of setting up both controllers with one holding down "left" and the other holding down "right" to make you walk back and forth to trigger random battles and the turbo attack button held down to kill off all the enemies.  Then just left it on overnight a few nights to finally get it.  Then I just needed to do that 4 more times so I could get one for each person in my party.

I think the letters you added match the style very well and they are all fairly easy to read.  If you had not said what letters you added I would not have been able to tell.  Do you know of a free program that lets you create fonts so you can just type the words in instead of moving graphics of the letters around to make words?

Great job on the maps so far.  I like the way you transformed the arrows so they match the perspective of the game.  Also the way you faded the arrows for Level 3 look great.  I think they are easy to follow.  I had no problem telling what connected to what.  Nice work on finding codes to freeze the enemies.  When I mapped Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa, I was lucky that there was an item in the game that froze all enemies so that made finding a code very easy since I just had to make it so that item was always active.

Final Fantasy X is definitely one of my favorite Final Fantasy Games.  Are you the type of person that will beat the game and stop playing it, or do you try to find everything and do all the side quests and max out your characters?

Snesmaster, the PNG format allows dimensions up to about 2,000,000,000.

What program can be used to save a PNG that large?

The tallest map I ever made was for Spy Hunter on the NES.  Area 7 is 145 KB and 256 x 30000.  Certainly not the largest in total area, but I believe the largest in height.  My version of Photoshop would not allow me to save out a .png any larger then 30,000 pixels in either direction.  I don't have the most recent version, so I don't know if a .png file can be larger then that now, but as far as I know a .png can't be larger then 30,000 in either direction.  Let me know if anyone knows if a .png file can be larger then that.

I just tried Internet Explorer, and that just shows a box with a red "X" instead of the image.  It looks like bowers are just not made to display an image so large and awesome.

I went to check out the newly uploaded map and I got this message:
The image "https://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/PSX/Castlevania-SymphonyOfTheNight-Dracula%27sCastle.png" cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

I'm using Firefox version 3.5.3 with windows XP.  Does anyone else get this message or does it appear just fine in the browser?

I did download it and was able to view it in my image viewer and it is an awesome map.  Definitely my favorite Castlevania game ever.  My screen size is set to 1920 x 1200.  Even with that you need a bigger screen to have a good view of this map.  Great job, it was well worth the time spent on it.

When will the upside down castle be done? :)

Maps Of The Month / Re: 2009/09: Paladin's Quest (Super NES) - FlyingArmor

Yes, being able to use "Walk Through Wall" type codes makes mapping games much easier.  There are several games I have mapped before other games I might have normally decided to map first due to having codes.  Fortunately the NES has the FCEUX emulator with a great built in code search feature allowing me to find many codes useful for mapping a game.  The last thing you want to do is worry about dodging enemies when you are trying to get the screen in a specific location to take a screen shot.

I'm still hoping someday someone comes out with an emulator for the SNES that has as many features as FCEUX has for the NES.

If this board was hacked, does that mean whoever did it has access to all our passwords used to login to the message board, along with e-mail addresses (if those are kept on the forum accounts)?

I would like to offer suggestions, however I went to the SNES section and I don't see Eye of the Beholder listed.

Map Gab / RE: Wizards and Warriors 2 for Nes??

I agree that the name for the game is confusing especially since for Wizards and Warriors 3 they have the "Kurds: Vision of Power" as a subtitle.  It would have made more since if they did the "Ironsword" as a subtitle as well.

Wow, I had no idea there were that many Mega Man games.  I knew there were a lot but that is crazy!

I never heard of that game before, but the graphics from the screen shots look pretty good.  Let me know if you need any help finding codes to help map the game.  I can find codes pretty quick using the FCEUX code search program.
