Map Requests / Re: JonLeung's Requests
« on: January 10, 2021, 11:43:34 pm »
I returned to our community after long time break and read all discussions on the forum.

First, I want to thank JonLeung for recomendation
If you haven't played Kirby: Super Star before, you should!  It's one of the better Kirby games, if not the best (though the DS remake, Kirby: Super Star Ultra, has even more stuff).
The game is really interesting, I like it.

So, what is games is need to rip now? May be it need to some Kirby's game, or Sega Genesis Mini games?

I remember how I buy two books about video games in May 2002 in Rostov-on-Don. A book about Genesis / Mega Drive games, it has a green glossy cover and Sonic + Knuckles images from Soniс Adventure game, and a book about NES+SNES games, it has green cover also, but with Donkey Kong image (from DK Country).
They described all games secrets, a secret places and a places of various collectibles, but it was only a text descriptions, without any images or screenshots.
Authors recommended to draw a level schemes manually, on a paper. It was say that information (on this view) will be useful.

Maps Of The Month / Re: 2020/02: Sonic Advance (GBA) - TerraEsperZ

Lack of debug mode on this games is a big flaw, but It's possible to make debug mode by usind Cheat Engine. It need a lot of time to calculate values and setting up the program, but this allows to get a real way to move game screen on a map.

What level map was placed on the background on the main page in May?

I never played Light Crusader and don't knew what is this game about, but I saw that this map would be interesting here (for Genesis Mini map set and for two user requests). However, we can see a review of a game on Youtube. This map include all all rooms and locations from the game (I found it by usind a cheat code and level select menu).

I read about Star Fox 2 and I see, that this game was relise only for SNES Classic Edition in 2017. I see it's a short game and it include Lylat System as a level select zone and several missions. One planet = one mission.

Lylat System is a one screen area and it may be ripped for several minuts. It's easy.

For other missions I think that drawing an original schemes is only way to illustrate it.

I'm working on a maps for Kirby:Super Star (DS version) and I want to illustrate each level with all warps. I found that Meta Knightmare Ultra zone include all previous levels from other zones and I don't see differenses with it.

Can anyone explain what is this levels?

I never played in Kirby:Super Star and I need some time on exploring this game.

Also, I found a level editor for Donkey Kong Country, it allows to visualize a level map, but without any objects and start/exit point

I looked at this list. There is no games familiar to me, but some projects is interested for me.
I can ripped Super Mario 64 (N64) with using Quad64 level editor. It can visualisate a full technical maps on one screen. As an example, map for Wing Cap area:

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (GBC) including an unused levels.

I find the Earthworm Jim maps for SNES in the atlas. If I remember it right, the SNES/Genesis maps is similary.
But I see that there are one map for EJ2 is missing. It's a not-platformed level between Villi People and Puppy Love Act 2. I just wanted to play this game a long time and I think that I will rip this level on next week.

Site Pikabu.ru is a biggest russian infotainment community, similar to Reddit.

Several days ago users discuss game "Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers" and mentioned VGMaps atlas more times.
Users talk about VGMaps as a "site, where can find level maps for almost any game" and say, that really lacked a full picture of a levels in past.
Also, some users found unusual this view of a levels, because some difficult and long levels may be short.
One user showed a level map, which was drawn him on a paper manually.

(If it need, use translate.google.com for translating text)

The sellers told about the site as a "big base with a various illustrations for videogames".
They also noted a large base of maps for NES and Sega games and say, if a gamer will have a desire to play an old game, he/she can see a maps first and remember a game levels, even if many years have passed.
