Wh-wha? EU earlier than US? Surely some mistake?
-
Europe got a few games earlier than the States...there was The Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap, and a few others since then. Still would be an exception though.
I just find it odd that Mario Kart is slated to come out so soon after Super Smash Bros. Brawl (at least in North America). SSBB is such a huge game, and Mario Kart would be pretty big too, that they ought to be spaced out a little more apart.
I guess it's a one-two punch to go up against whatever PS3 and Xbox 360 bundles are coming out this spring. If not, expect delays...
(I'm listening to SSBB music right now, of the Mario Kart remixes. o_0 Awesome timing.)
I've never been good at Mario Kart. I don't know if I'll pick this up. The one day I ever played online in Mario Kart DS was against Revned and someone else (was it osrevad?), and I sure got my butt kicked! I'm not so much of a fan that I have to pick up every one... I only have Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart DS - and I probably sold Super Mario Kart - though I did at least play each one.
So there's animals and bikes now? I haven't been keeping up with the news...
-
You have to learn some of the tricks (power slide speed boosts, etc) before you have a hope in hell online. Oh, and hopefully they'll do something about snaking in the Wii version, and as far as I know there's no Wii cheat devices yet, which has somewhat ruined DS WFC gaming.
Anyway, I just preordered it so I'll have the pain and suffering of getting it delivered on release day - while I'm at work and can't play.
-
296 days 'till Christmas. Oh... Sorry, wrong thread.
-
I haven't been keeping up with any of the Mario Kart news. I blame the fact that the director of the game didn't set up site with daily weekday updates.
Also, 37 days until awesomeness comes back.

So Europe's getting it first now? Or is it just that they didn't announce our delay yet?

49 days (Japan) - April 26th
34 days (Europe) - April 11th
48 days (US) - April 25th

32 days (Europe) - April 11th
49 days (US) - April 28th
45 days (AU) - April 24th

Good heavens. Is Nintendo going to change the release date every day until launch?
---
Dot? Dot. Dot!
-
How would that even work? You can only change it so many times.
Day before launch: It's coming out in two weeks!
Day of launch: Hey you guys, you should buy this game, it came out three days ago!

Um.... I really don't get the US release date now:
30 days (Japan) - April 10th
31 days (Europe) - April 11th
110? days (US) - June 30th
44 days (AU) - April 24th
-
OK, I think the "latest" release dates are hopefully going to be permanent:
27 days (JP) - April 10th
28 days (EU) - April 11th
44 days (US) - April 27th
41 days (AU) - April 24th
-
Is there an official site for this game? I am seeing a lot of official art here and there, but I can't seem to figure out where it is coming from.
-
I don't think so.

The reviews are starting to come in...
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/mariokartwii
It seems local multiplayer is a little lacking due to tracks being designed more for 12-player online multiplayer, the motorbikes are a bit tricky to get used to, and the wheel is a polarising opinion, but it's pretty much everything you'd hope for.
-
I'm really wondering how Battle Mode is going to turn out. I thought it rather failed in DD, but had been epic on 64.

I said 6 days for Japan and 7 days for Europe and 23 days for Australia, instead of 7 and 8 and 24 respectively, because it's more or less April 4th in those regions, however it's still April 3rd for North America, so it's still 21 dasy left...

It's not fair that you can quote little snippets. Everyone else has to quote entire messages :-(

I saw a couple other people doing it.
What I do is that I quote the message, then I go back in and edit the message to crop out the parts I didn't need to quote.
Of course, it's also unfair that I can have silent edits. :P

Wait... don't "links" work if you're Level 22?

Linking is something you have to buy with gold.

Hey, TUK. Is Koopa (Troopa) your favorite character to use? Or is it Bowser? :P

It's fun so far. The wheel is kind of hard to get used to, but then I never played it on a system with analogue controls.
-
So wait, you've never played Mario Kart 64 or Double Dash? <___< Also, my favourite character is Mario hahahahahaha!
-
My console history is as follows:
Master System
Game Boy
GBA
DS
Wii
So I missed a teeny tiny bit in the middle.
-
Well... between the Gameboy and GBA, you missed erm... SNES (1990/1/2), Saturn (1994/5), PlayStation (1994/5), Nintendo 64 (1996/7), Virtual Boy (1995), Game Boy Color (1998), Dreamcast (1998/9), PS One (2000), PlayStation 2 (2000).... and a lot of other consoles?
Oh and...

is it REALLY that hard Maxim? I've gotten Gold in all 50cc, 100cc and 150cc except Special Cup (in 150cc that is) ... then I've got another 8 in Mirror Mode to do... which if it's the same as Double Dash.... is even HARDER than 150cc ... because the players rape you even more... yeah, I said rape, because that's what it feels like... because some of them actually manage to constantly side-bash you about ten times in a row and if you move that just somehow go into you... and don't you just hate it when you're quite far in the lead, and you slip on a little banana, and then suddenly you're 12th? And that's not because of the banana, it's because after you slipped, a red shell hits you... then a blue spiny shell.... then.... someone with invincibility knocks you... and THEN you're blasted over the edge by a Bullet Bill... <_<
You know the only thing I can thank being hit by a red shell for is say... you're about a second from the finish line then you're blasted by a blue spiny shell... and you see the 2nd player catching up fast... just before he over takes you... he shoots a red shell, which hits you... and blasts you over the finish line ... that did happen to me once <_<
-
It's not *hard*, it's just the way Mario Kart is - powerups are position-related so out in front you get green shells and bananas to counter blue shells and the like. That, and a lot of the bikes are incredibly twitchy, making powerslides hard. The heavyweights' bikes seem easier in that respect.
Australian players should start appearing online this evening, since they live in the future.

It's here at last! What does everyone think? For me, it was even better than expected. The Wii Wheel handles beautifully, the new courses are a rush to race on, and (for me) the icing on the cake? Retro courses!!!

I've never actually played the DS version (nor the GBA version). I need to get on that... >_>

I found the GBA version to be rather horrible, although it's supposedly very close to the SNES original that everyone loves. The DS and Wii versions are true 3D with sort-of-believable physics, the GBA and SNES versions were flat sprites on a fake 3D plane with some decidedly suspicious handling.
Also, I suck at this game (barely holding my score above 5000 online) but I keep playing because it's fun. That ought to count for a lot.
