Maps In Progress / Re: SEGA / MEGADRIVE - King Colossus ( J )
« on: February 08, 2015, 07:37:22 am »
UPDATE

OK. I have all maps done and completed the game. Almost ready to submit. However.. I ask some help on one area. I'll post the map below.

There are two areas of the Coliseum that I can not for the life of me access. Even though these areas look as so you can get there, they may just even be there to make you think they are accessible. It would make since to be able to access those areas considering all obvious areas of all other maps are complete as it would feel.

Area 1 - This area was mapped while being constrained to the guards pushing me through the door to fight. Once you gain control back of your hero you are tossed into the dungeon and you start at B1 where the hero is on the map. There is a door that can not be opened either. I've tried pushing up against every wall, defeating every enemy, jumping on everything on the floor but to no avail..

Area 2 - This area has two boxes on the other side of the wall but no access to it and a door that wont open. I was thinking a KEY somewhere around since several places has certain keys you find to open certain doors. In the waterway below there are two secret walls I walked through and got two treasures but no walk through walls on this map. I tried them all.

So, maybe some one can have a look for anything out of the ordinary that might lead to something secret. I am stumped. In the other coliseum there are two areas not accessible at first but later in the game you can get there from the castle.

Problem with this game is that it likes to control where you go and doesn't let you go back to certain other areas if you have already been through that part of the story. Even being on the map you can only select certain areas. GOOD gracious to save states!! =D

Have to think ahead and if something goes bad or takes a wrong turn at last you get an idea of what's ahead. A few areas are inaccessible for good once you do what you need to do there so you needed to get everything out of it before completing it or you will never get anything out of it again.

Good to see those maps. I never heard of this game GD Leen. AGTP has about 5% of the game translated and needs some more text decpompression.

I actually like the color style and design of the game. Some sources say since this was the very first SNES/SFC game it wasn't very good. BUT... to each his own or HER own. Nice work though on the maps. Hopefully we'll have a working full translation of it in the future.

BTW I just ordered and received the RPG Trifecta pack released by Super Fighter Team. Since those were originally Genesis games I might map those. Beggar Prince is really the only one I need to use the working Trifecta pack release of to map, since emulating it doesn't work right. It actually crashes a short time into the game when getting the healing spell in the first town.

Only problem is playing it as a PC boxed emulated release it's scaled 2x and I can't for the life of me figure out how to disable my ATI filtering. I could resize the game window after capturing the screen with PSP but it doesn't look as it should due to the filtering.. GRRR..

At any rate, nice stuff. We'll see ya around.

Alright I have 14 new areas mapped but some of the areas need to be mapped out more once I get access back to the area. The game wants to take you to a new area on it's own until you complete it then takes you again to another. Thus, this leaves me with half the maps unmapped completely.

Here are 7 of the ones I believe to be complete now. there are still 4 left unmapped completely since no access back to the area is available.

BTW the game reminded me of Lagoon at first but it's much better as far as game play goes. There are some nice range weapons to use and it's just neat! Not very difficult either. Good balance of challenge tricks and traps... and secrets. Not sure how much more game there is but this should do until I finish. At least you have an idea of how the game is and what it looks like.

Chow!

I'll see what I can do about getting it mapped. I'm more than half way done mapping King Colossus (J) now.

As far as NP mag goes I have every issue from 1 all the way to the late 90's and a year or so issues from 2005+. After 2000 the mag went down hill. But give me some time LTIan I'll try to accommodate. I have that RR issue as well.

Cheers

You know I'm currently doing another game and I don't like to take on more than one game at a time but if no one shows up to complete this I'll give it a go. I played this game for a bit a long time ago when it came out and thought it was nice.

LOL

Indeed the word play on this game is funny! I played the game a little bit a ways back and it might be a bit challenging to map this one. Hopefully someone might show up to take on this game's maps.

This game probably didn't come out in the west because not many Americans took tightly to the previous ones.

That looks nice enough. It's a bit more difficult to map this FF game than the normal 2d ones. The icons looks good and descriptive.

As you mention as you go through the game I'm sure things will change a bit about the way you're mapping. So far the current maps you have on the main site are fair enough. There is a lot of stuff in this game!

Carry on and fly high!

Great work on these maps! I'll resist the urge to look through the maps later in the game since I'd like to play through this properly some time. Thanks for bringing this game to our attention!

Thanks!

Well you shouldn't get lost if you use the maps. There were only about two or three areas where you could actually get lost if not having a map. The game was fun to play and map. I didn't know about the game either until I watched The Happy console Gamer's review about it. It's pretty neat a' game. Hope ya have fun playing it as I did (when you decide you can and do)

Take it easy!

King Colossus (J) Eng Trans by M.I.J.E.T - MAPS

So here it is... I have 4 maps done including the in-game map.

This game reminds me quite a lot (at first and still a bit now...) of Lagoon for SFC SNES. (Lagoon didn't get very much respect...)

King Colossus is quite nice. The short attacking distance of the Hero is very similar to Lagoons but you start off with several spells you can cast and you get weapon upgrades. The game has some nice music and the GFX are appealing, and mapping it isn't too difficult. Most rooms so far are vertical up/down and it's pretty easy to map and once I get a feel for it I'll acquire a nice technique.

I'll try and keep the maps unpopulated from monsters aside from the main enemy bosses and actors to keep it clean. I've posted the four maps here but will upload to my Drop box for the remainder. I may change the current maps if it's needed but I've not seen any reason to go back to previous maps aside from Ganant's Place.

Anyway, here is the jist of things.

This is cool. It's tax time and I'll be getting a lot more back than normal. I think I might do this pledge.

You know this particular situation of collecting all the NA NES games would probably be impossible in the time-frame if all games had to include box, manual, cart, sleeve and styrofoam at bare minimum... Luckily they do not. =D

The video itself will be nice to see.

Welcome back!

I'd suggest using custom stylized icons for the treasure. That puts a personal spin on the maps. Just try and keep the color scheme and such near the same. But hey... you are THE RPG mapper around here so keep um' comin'!

Good Day/Night!

It's time to take a break now... Who knows what maps will be next. Maybe something on MS or GG. Something other than NES maps anyway. : )

Good day sirs and maa'ms.

Well  the game is completely mapped now!

There are a total of 40 maps altogether. Land1 and 2 full maps and minimaps included. I'll be sending them in.

I think it's time to take a break now!

Some new maps...

As a note anything mapped that appears on the Main Land1-2-3 maps are not really suitable for their own separate maps since they are only one small screen in size or two and have no enemies present. You'all should see some areas on the main overhead maps. Any suggestions on some other way to do it would be considered.

The main map Land1 has been updated. It's all mapped out but will touch it up.

All of these maps are listed in order of game progression for the most part. Some areas are open to explore freely choosing whichever order but this is the order I'm going which seems to be in the right direction. I've noted the maps accordingly.

Map 11 - Satellite Base. Mostly done but will add anything new. (Spaceport area)

Map 15 - Bio Palace Overhead Map (Land2) (unfinished ...)
3rd Overhead map somewhere in space... The music on this map greatly resembles that of a tune from FF6 the Veldt map area! (I think...) Sounds nearly the same, quality and all. The first time I heard it FF6 came to mind... Weird how a tune embeds in your head after 8 years since hearing it..

I just reached a new area of this map so mapping of this will continue.

Alright that should give yuin's an Idea of what's happening with the mapping here.

Could be but I'm kinda thinking the Bio Area overhead map is the area right in the middle of Land2... We'll see. It's bogging me. :)
