I don't accept scans.
I already mentioned the error to Stefan, like twice already.
If he wants to get around to it, he will.
-
Wow.... long time no see, dbarrier54. I remember when you used to do nothing but ORDER/DEMAND maps to be done by a certain time. Also, what's the mistake in the map?
-
If that's the same stage of Super Mario World that I'm thinking of, it's the one where each area is different depending on certain conditions when you finish the previous area, conditions such as remaining time, coins collected, Yoshi (Dragon?) Coins colected, stuff like that. At least one area is missing.
Admittedly I misread the original post when I thought it was a request for money for a scanner. :P
I also have the Mario Mania (Super Mario World) Official Nintendo Player's Guide, and a scanner (slightly fritzy, but it works often enough), but like I said, this site doesn't deal with scans.

My guess is that Stefan used an editor to capture all the maps, and perhaps the editor he was using couldn't view all of them in that stage since it has those special conditions.
It would explain how he got through mapping the game so quickly but it takes more effort to get all the complete areas for just this one stage.
If asking Stefan again doesn't work, bug Peardian. :P Peardian sure loves those Mario games.

Hey hey, I have projects of my own to do. :P

The Chocolate Island 2 Map is Incorrect
The Mistake is Chocolate Island 2 has 9 Areas Not 6
example:
_______________________________
Mistake
Area 1
Area 2
Area 3A 3B 3C
Area 4
Should Be Changed to
Area 1
Area 2A 0-8 Coins area 1
Area 2B 9-20 Coins area 1
Area 2C 21 or more than 21 in area 1
Area 3A Complete Area 2 250-300 Timer
Area 3B Complete Area 2 235-249 Timer
Area 3C Complete Area 2 1-234 Timer
Area 4A Complete Area 3 0-3 Dragon Coins
Area 4B Complete Area 3 4 Dragon Coins
-
I'm guessing he used Lunar Magic to capture these levels. Notice how areas that can't be seen through normal play are shown in the maps, I have used Lunar Magic before, and those maps look exactly like you see them in the editor. Chocolate Island 2 is one of the only things that Lunar Magic couldn't edit, so he must have had to make that map manually.
---
Games I have mapped--Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES), Mario Party 3 (N64), Super Mario Bros Deluxe (GBC), New Super Mario Bros. (DS), Mario Kart DS (DS)
-
So you get a different Area 2 depending on how many coins you got in Area 1, a different Area 3 depending on the timer, and a different area 4 depending on the number of Dragon Coins? Wow... and I bet there's no way of using Lunar Magic to see all 9 different rooms, which I'm guessing Stefan used?
-
Stefan are you working on redoing Chocolate island 2
Like this
Area 1
Area 2A 2B 2C
Area 3A 3B 3C
Area 4A 4B
-
The Chocolate island 2 Area 2C Map is Incorrect
Please Correct the following errors before Continuing
1 Error
Area 1 Correct
Area 2A Correct
Area 2B Correct
Error Area 3C Change that to area 2C on scanner

It's like deja vu all over again.

God damn it, dbarrier. Just say what needs to be fixed. Now I'm going to pretend that the entire game of Donkey Kong Land has been mapped, but let's say I dunno Sky High Caper was incorrect, in that it missed something.
A Normal person would say: Sky High Caper is missing something.
But you say:

Correct the following error(s) before continuing or I'll get you locked up for incorrect mapping. Listen to me for I must be obeyed.
Jungle Jaunt Correct

Yes, it's annoying, isn't it? Well, maybe not for you.

Posts #012 and #013 in this topic were previously new topics, but I merged all these topics together into this existing thread.
It's not necessary to make new topics about the same thing.

Well, just a few things before I continue:
I'm probably one of the few guys that never really played SMW in my childhood (only the first levels at a friend). So one day I thought it would be nice to play through the game on emulator and try to map it. I started to map the first 2 levels manually and then found this lunar magic editor. It was a lot easier with lunar, because all I had to do was to save the level & "bonus level" files as bmp and align them correctly (I wanted to play through the game anyway, so I just checked which pipe lead to which bonus room and so on).
But then there were a few areas that lunar magic couldn't render. Especially in this level. And because I never played the game, I just went through the level and mapped the missing areas (at this point I did not know that I was missing more areas of this level).
Then over the years I got like 100 mails (50 from debbie^^) in which I was asked to redo the map. I always wanted to do so, but you know, sometimes you are just too busy...
I finally read a FAQ to find the missing areas. But now there are still errors in the map?
I will redo the map again, but I need specific information:
Area 1 (there is only one first Area)
- when you do not collect enough coins, you reach Area 2A (left side on my map)
- when you collect enough coins, you reach Area 2B (right side on my map)
And then, Area 2B leads to Area 3B (the one with the mushroom-bubbles on right side of my map).
Is there a way to reach a different Area 3X from Area 2B?
Sorry, if I still made a mistake. But now I want to have it correct (and not wait another 3 years to redo it^^).

"Dragon Coins" should be capitalized, and some words ("Dragon" and "(middle)", for example) seem to have weird pixel nicks and lines that probably shouldn't be there.
>_>
Hey, I might as well point it out before dbarrier54 does...
-
Ok, just tell me what I can improve.
I also thought about aligning stuff like this:
------ | Area 2a | Area 3a | -------
Area 1 | Area 2b | Area 3b | Area 4a
------ | Area 2c | Area 3c | Area 4b
Not sure, if that is better.
-
Yeah, that probably would look better, and make it easy/-ier to 'understand' the map.

Stefan,
I Just wanted to know that
Area 2C is Wrong
-
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
OK, that's it. For GOD'S sake, dbarrier54, POST IN THE SAME THEAD! STOP MAKING NEW ONES. Also, it's wrong is it? Well how about saying how it should be?
-
Here we go again...
-
dbarrier54,
We Just wanted to know,
this thread is WRONG.
-
Please correct before continuing!
-
This is really unnecessary.
1) This is the fourth topic you made about this (post #022). Plus, you hijacked another thread about Super Mario World, so it's kind of like the fifth time. That's why I merged these topics with the original, though I could've just as easily deleted them (if I didn't happen to really like the "merge topics" ability).
2) There was no need to email me to tell Stefan Mahrla to fix it. He's well aware of the situation, and he mentioned that you emailed him already, and I don't see why it'd be my responsibility to "tell him" to fix it. I do want to see it fixed too, but that goes into my next point...
3) ...he already said he would fix it again (after already attempting to fix it for you twice already), so I don't see why you should pester someone who's already willing to fulfill your request. He has acknowledged your preference to have it as soon as possible, as well.
4) And that wasn't long ago, it's not like it was over a month ago. There might be a certain length of time when it would be fine to give someone a poke to see if they're still working on something, but surely you can give it a rest for a little longer? Relax, it'll get done, he doesn't need constant reminders, especially not on the forums where you might be annoying others.
5) If you need this map corrected so badly, perhaps you should be more clear to Stefan exactly what needs to be remedied. Just saying something's wrong doesn't help.
6) I find it hard to believe that you would NEED one single stage mapped correctly, and SO BADLY, especially when you already have the Mario Mania Player's Guide. If the constant pestering is a joke, it's no longer funny.
I believe I banned you once before, don't make another topic about this or I just might do it again.
-
You see where you put "I don't see why you should pester someone who's already willing to fulfill your request"? I think you sould replace "request" with "demands" <_<
-
This kind of behavior is why I've always thought a "Request" board was a bad idea; it attracts the kind of obsessed people who keep demanding things be done just because they want it.

Sorry for taking so long to re-redo (^^) the map, but my computer crashed two weeks ago.
So here is the map that can be "read" from left to right. It can also be uploaded to the main page:

OK, your majesty (dbarrier54). Is this to your royal liking, sir trollalot?
-
Okay, it's now up; hope that settles things.
-
Well, we haven't heard from dbarrier, so I guess I'll be the one to say thanks, Stefan! :D I should have said that earlier.
dbarrier should have been the first to say thanks - if she had all that time and energy to beg for a correct map and to email the both of us multiple times about it, it seems rather disappointing that she can't thank you even once on the forums...(unless perhaps she emailed or PMed you)?
Though maybe she's busy going through this revision pixel-by-pixel to make sure it's correct...
-
She?
-
I would assume so.
Someone called "her" "Debbie" here on the forums, and then when "she" emailed me a few times about this, the name on the email was indeed "Debbie Barrier".
I'm going on the assumption that Debbie is a female name and that the person using that email address has the same name as that email would say it is.
Of course, I have been wrong before. I thought Peardian was a girl until I honoured "her" for the Maps Of The Month for Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars, not realizing that he was using his mom's email account the whole time.
I sometimes think Peardian's a girl in error (as in, while checking my email, "Oh, she's got more Mario maps coming in today", etc.). Luckily I often catch myself before I type up anything here about her. I mean him.
Of course the whole Debbie Barrier thing might be a joke, I don't know.
-
It's okay. I get that a lot. :P
Well, not a lot, but more frequently than you'd expect. :P

when is chocolate island 2 going to be fixed?
-
The fixed (and hopefully correct) choco island 2 map is uploaded:
https://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/SuperNES/SuperMarioWorld-ChocolateIsland-ChocolateIsland2.png
However, Jonathan made no news about it, is that why you are asking? Sometimes he posts news like "Game (Revised)", when there is a revised map. I can ask him if he will do such a news, because there were like 30+ mails I got about this one map. So maybe other people also only check the news and not the forum and don't know that there is an improved map.
-
Ever since Revned redid his Mega Man III maps last year, others have revised their maps.
I only think a revision is worth mentioning on the front page as "revised" if it's major enough to be considered an overhaul, and most of the time it's a complete replacement usually by the same person. I don't think it's necessary to mention on the front page if someone makes a minor correction to a map - otherwise I'd be doing that every other week.
If I didn't mention it on the front page, I must have mentioned the Chocolate Island 2 revision elsewhere, since it was apparently so controversial. I probably did so in the Super NES Game Atlas topic; my apologies for not doing it here.
