Title: The Tetris Effect

After playing Lumines for more than half an hour, I see falling blocks when I close my eyes. It's almost as if the game continues for an hour or two after I turn my PSP off.

Yes, I sure did. I remember talking about it recently. I was dreaming about aligning layers and sprites to make screenshot maps, but just that. It was completely divorced from the fact that I was there to do it. The dream was pure map making, and god did I wake up tired the following morning.

I also experienced it some times. Most of the times I had it when I played a computer game late at night (and for a long time) and then went to bed very soon afterwards - for example once when I had to fight the last boss in Sonic Adventure DX (with Sonic) and needed 50 tries or so and still hadn't beaten him - I went to bed and just saw how I continued using the same method over and over again in my head.

And I once got it when I played Tetris Attack for a very long time in the endless mode.

There sure have been more times but I cannot remember them at the moment.

For real?  Do you actually see the objects (and/or motions) vividly or is it just an faint impression or feeling?

I get tunes stuck in my head all the time, usually video game tunes from ages past that somehow resurfaced, but I don't think I've seen anything visual like Tetrads/Tetrominoes yet.

Well, it's not a very clear vision. It's more like thinking of these motions although you do not want it - and you cannot stop it for that limited time.

It's similar to ear worms as you also do not really hear them but just have to whistle or hum them all the time.

I actually see falling blocks, and I control their fall and rotate them as necessary. It's only happened to me with Lumines, as the games can go on for an hour or so without slowing down much.

Its happened with Tetris for me, but I never played Lumines.

Its an odd feeling, much different than hearing a tune in your head. Similar to a dream, I think. You know you've been playing too much when it happens. I think its the simplicity of the game, cause I've played other, more complex, games for hours and hours (Fable) and I do not have any lingering affects.
