Mapping Tips/Guides / Re: Screenshot Autostitcher
« on: March 03, 2024, 05:55:39 am »
Can't get it to work with video anymore in 64-bit Windows 7 or 10. Had to export the video into an image sequence. Otherwise it can't advance through the video itself, lossless or uncompressed.

Maps In Progress / Diamond Rush

This was started 2 years ago, but making such maps is somewhat hard, so I got bored quickly. But here are the 4 maps that I completed back then.

You can not guarantee it will keep allowing hacky ways to embed the pictures, but it is kinda reliable in that they won't alter the files you send them. But no thumbnail.

Also, version control services are mandatory for dedicated geeks.

For SNES and Genesis it uses the most accurate known open source cores: bsnes and GenesisPlusGX respectively. Both seem to have options to view entire VRAM screen per layer. NES core it uses it QuickNES by Blargg, which is abit more accurate than FCEUX, but does not support some games, and for the rest it uses NESHawk, which in fact it way more accurate than both of those, and even better than Nestopia currently. So I guess NESHawk would be your best bet for NES.

Anyway, you'd need to check all the options yourself. http://tasvideos.org/BizHawk.html

Map Gab / mobile/java?

There's no such section on the site, I can't believe no one ever made a mobile game map! I'm currently making one for Diamond Rush.

Bump. Gens with Hex Editor (for a whole bunch of memory regions)! Copy-paste included.

You can patch RAM using Game Genie, here's the build where that dialog doesn't freeze the emulator, so that you can keep it open all the time:

Savestate Viewer is for Gens, the rerecording branch has quite some stuff added to savestates, so they won't work perfectly there.

EDIT:

Is elektropage.ru banned or something?

The thing is, the latest KMod has this feature. But the build is x64 only so I couldn't even test it out.

After I saw how Genesis nametables look, I disagree that it helps anything in mapping :) It's just a heap of level parts, not so big and completely messed up.

Map Viewer - in TODOs.
For pasting screenshots, specify the RGB mode in your editor.
WWF doesn't seem to run in other Gens' either.
Savestates for Gens-rr are different than the ones the Savestate tool was designed for.

Finally added saving screenshot to clipboard (yay!)
Finally added ability to remove HUD/messages from screenshots (4 years later):
determined by Tools -> AVI -> Clean AVI screen.
Blue Pause effect off by default.

Finally managed to add pink backdrop to Gens-rr internally. What were the other needs for gens mapping?
