The only system I bought on release day was my Dreamcast.  Everything else I've waited at least a year.

VGMaps Social Board / RE: The Japanese Are Crazy! (funny video site)

If I ever make it over to Japan, I'll have to make sure to walk around the toilet once to check for any eletrical wires or boats!

Here are Stages 4 & 5.  The border around Stage 4 is a little funky, but the finished piece-together had such weird edges that this was the only way I could think of to hide them.

(I'll submit them at the end of the week with anything else I do.)

As Terra said, it looks like the pirate ship will line up if you over lap the sections (but maybe not).  For the treehouse, I would just put some seperation space between the vertical levels.  Without it, it just looks like a bad job (I know you explained, but not everyone who visits the site will read these forums).

Also, if you don't want to do the Genesis version I might consider doing it.

Someone had too much time on their hands.

Gaming / RE: Personal gaming accomplishments

I usually don't play a game long enough to get 100% complete, so I'd say my biggest accomplishment is probably beating Langrisser I on the Langrisser Dramatic Edition CD for Sega Saturn without knowing a word of Japanese.  The same could go for Langrisser Millennium for Dreamcast.

These aren't text intensive RPGs (they're more strategy then RPG) but you still have to figure out what all the menu captions do and figure out what's going on without the help of the dialog.

Just finished Stage 3.  It looks a little weird, but that's how it is in the game.

I recently submitted some old maps I had on some backup CDs to VGMaps.  About a day later, I found a partial map and decided to complete it.  While making this map I remembered how much fun it was.  So I've decided to do a few maps here and there.

These are two I submitted, but aren't up yet.

Mapping Tips/Guides / RE: Mapping Tools
« on: June 21, 2006, 11:23:36 am »
I still use Genecyst for Genesis maps and sprite ripping.  The only reason I use it over Gens + Kmod, is because Gens' method of dumping a screenshot is hideous.  It merely dumps the current window as a 24-bit bitmap.

This makes the layer toggle in Kmod useless with many games where the background and sprites use the same RGB color (usually black).

The tools I use are MS Paint and PSP 4 (no, I didn't make a typo).  I use MSPaint to assemble, and I use PSP4 for batch conversions, making palette alterations, and for turning the final image into a 256 color PNG.

Gaming / RE: Are we Nintendo fanboys for life?

I used to be quite a Sega fan, but after the DC, I found myself playing more and more games on other classic systems.  Every console has its good, bad, and ugly, so I don't play favorites too much.
