Map Gab / RE: Seiken Densetsu 3 (SNES)
« on: June 20, 2008, 07:15:47 pm »
So I recently found a hack-code that actually allows walk through walls in the game, a code which didn't exist before.

Great tool to help map the rest of the game that's left (which is still the majority).

...Of course now that also means I need to go back and redo basically all my maps.... *sigh* At least I wasn't that far into the game. So most previously submitted maps will have to have corrected maps submitted later, with a bigger file-size for the most part.

So I just stumbled on this website that's the biggest dump of cheat codes for old games on old systems I've ever seen. and the cool part; a good portion of the cheats were *created* by game hackers, not official codes, but they do have a section for the old Game Genie codes and stuff.

GSHI

Now if this is old news, then I'm sorry ^^; But finding a Walk Through Walls code for the game I'm mapping (which doesn't have an official one and I can't figure out how to hack screen scrolling to save my life) just floored me.

Enjoy.

Mapping Tips/Guides / RE: Getting maps hosted on gamefaqs
« on: June 20, 2008, 12:48:07 pm »
It's almost as if they have a favoritism for certain games... hmm...

I personally only use GameFAQs if I need help actually doing something in a game where I'm really stuck. It's not even the first place I (have ever) thought of for maps, even before I stumbled in here.

When it comes down to laying out the different rooms in each level, it all comes down to common sense. What is the easiest way to lay them out so that the path is the most obvious. So it's really up to you.

And I know people have mentioned this to you before, but instead of spamming the board with multiple posts, just use the Edit feature to add to a previous post, otherwise the post count just gets ridiculous and too much scrolling, and makes it annoying to read.

Yeah you lucky bum. :P

it's no so much controlling, but making sure that not just any new user can flood the boards with span jut cause they know some basic html. This way you're already and established and (posibly) respected user before you get around to posting links.

Mapping Tips/Guides / RE: Off-Screen Mapping
« on: June 19, 2008, 01:48:17 pm »
Hmm... I might look into that. Could help me, being the perfectionist I am with my mapping.

Which I definitely need to get back into. I haven't kept up with my personally-set timeframe; getting a job stress, starting the new job stress, and not really having a permanent work station atm all makes it kind of hard to sit down and map. Using the optical mouse on your thigh only works so well. :P

Oh Wikipedia... and it's reasons like that that for such information you go and find topic specific wikis. Personally, I find the original wikipedia useless for most information, unless you're only looking for just the most base information.

So IGN'a gotten wind of it too, and if they submitted it to the Australian game evaluation board, like Rew said, it's either some ridiculously elaborate hoax, or we got something legit on our hands.

As for linking, you have the buy the appropriate thing in the gold store on the forum to get the link ability. Or Jon could be awesome and allow some people to do it (not saying anything against you Jon in the least, but it does get a bit annoying), but otherwise it's the only way I know of.

If only basic tags worked... :P

« on: June 04, 2008, 12:03:08 pm »
Nice going Jon! What model/make is it? I'm pretty sure you mention it somewhere before, but I can't seem to recall it offhand.

Before I even look into getting a car, I should probably look into getting my driver's license first, eh? Even though I don't plan to start diriving anywhere anytime soon (we have a really great bus system here and everything I need or places I go to are within 30-45 minute ride away), it would be good to have it at least for ID purposes...

And a friend of mine would kill you to get that grill decal. :P

So news about the new movies, or weblink to the semi-fan-made webcomic produced by Rainmaker/Mainframe? I guess we'll find out in the morning (hopefully).

It's pretty buggy if you ask me. Enemies kept getting stuck in cliffs, I kept getting stuck in cliffs, the arrow soldier didn't really shoot his arrow, but it stayed on-screen until you walked into it, even if you moved to another screen, an area I assumed to be a path just reset the screen instead... Not to mention that I couldn't for the life of me find the temple. It needs some major work.
