VGMaps Social Board / Super Mario Bros Z @ Newgrounds
« on: July 16, 2006, 04:42:28 pm »
I don't like DBZ, but these flash animations really don't have much do do with it, other than the title tune, to be continued tune, and that there are big fights...but the fights here are really good, IMO, especially those in Episodes 2 and 3 so far.

I also wouldn't link to Newgrounds stuff unless I really think you should check it out.  It's got really good animation involving sprites and original custom-made sprites - if you're a Mario or Sonic fan you should like these.

Super Mario Bros Z - Episode 1

Super Mario Bros Z - Episode 2

Okay, they've been added.

I thought I'd show that thumbnail because it was a no-brainer since that boss looks cool.

I guess I need to make a board for completed maps...

Are there any tablet PCs that can run all desktop PC software?  If so, that would be sweet.

Whatever happened to Microsoft's Origami thing?

Sorry, Revned.

I'm of the opinion that widescreen users are still the minority, and that they could always adjust their windows so that they're not maximized if it's really too wide anyway.

Like the logo and white look, you may learn to tolerate it...

I've applied the changes to all the folders, but let me know if any game system's page isn't showing up properly.

That's cool (if only because it's free), but free things usually have some kind of catch - should I expect junk mail and spam if I sign up there?

My dad always says "there's no such thing as a free lunch" and so one day I should buy him a lunch with no strings attached just so that he can't use that phrase anymore.

EDIT: Hey, that's also for Americans only, at least at this time.

I got at least one current issue of every major magazine when I was at E3.  Man, GamePro has changed a lot since the NES/early Super NES days.  As in, it really sucks now.

I also miss the old Nintendo Powers.  I'm still subscribing but I haven't read much of the last few months' issues.

I never really read EGM so I don't know how much it's changed over the years.

I get all my info online, but I guess the occasional paper magazine is nice to flip through.  I'm not eligible for this deal either since like Terra, I'm Canadian.

I will confess to stealing $200 (this was back in my high school years) from a guy who was staying with us.  He came here for schooling from Hong Kong and stayed with us for a few months until he could find his own place.

I justified the thefts at the time because he was loaded and I figured he wouldn't miss a measly $200 from his always-unlocked mini-safe.  If he had bothered to lock it at all (the money was taken over a span of a few days), I probably wouldn't've done it.

I remember in junior high how they were always telling us that Dudley-brand locks were preferable over Master-brand locks.

I think I found that locks (though I don't remember what brand, though I think it was Dudley, actually) had a leeway zone of about 2-3 numbers on either side of the "correct" number, meaning a range of about 5 numbers.  That would make a 60-number dial actually have about 12 combinations to try out per number.  With three numbers, and considering that you just have to turn until you get an unlock on the third one, only the first two numbers matter, meaning 144 possible combinations.  I don't know if they still make Dudley locks that way.

With enough time, any combination lock can be unlocked, so locks that require keys, or better yet, fingerprint readers, would be preferable.

A laptop has always been on my list - my brother really wanted another desktop computer and so last week we got one.  Shuffling them around, I now have a decent computer in my room as well.  Don't know if I'll need another one anytime soon now.

It's like my DS and DS Lite...I'm sure I'd love it, and the portability is really nice, but considering that I don't think it'd leave the house that often, it almost doesn't seem necessary.  A lot of things I do on the computer require time, space, and privacy, three things I'm not so sure I have on the bus on the way to and from work, the only times I feel so lacking from being apart from a computer.  Looks like I'm already too obsessed with being in front of a screen as it is.

But clean floors...everybody loves that.  And robots.  Sounds like you guys are leery about ever getting a Roomba yourself (which surprises me, and kind of disappoints me, honestly) so if I ever do get one I will let you guys know if it meets expectations.  And I'll be honest if it doesn't.

Not to sound like a Roomba spokesperson here, but it actually has brushes that work in corners.

I guess pets could be a concern.  But some of the testimonials I read make mention of pets (I guess it's good at getting pet hair) and apparently some pets don't mind it.  Maybe it's because it's quieter than nearly all other vacuums?  And a lot of people consider Roombas as pets - several of them have a name for it, and for some reason a common name is Rosy/Rosie/Rosey.  What's up with that?  Is that a Jetsons reference?

I really should get one if I think I'm going to like it so much, and use it lots in the 30-day risk-free trial period, and be ready to post my impressions if anyone asks.

It's all for fun.  That's why they accept "donations".  If people are willing to "donate" money to see a system trashed and the people running the site are happy to do that service then I don't see a big problem with it.  It's not so much a donation as it is in a sense paying to be entertained by such a thing.  There are better causes to donate to, so by seeing it as voluntarily and optionally paid entertainment it's less...wasteful?  I don't know.

Okay, it's still a waste but then again most entertainment is.

Look at it this way...even if they used that money to buy an Xbox 360 for somebody it likely would've broken down by now.  And it didn't eat up their DVDs!

Actually, much to my dismay, my parents (yes, I still live at home) finally bought a new vacuum cleaner to replace our old one that's probably been around since the late 70s.  Seriously.

It's lighter, but it's still pretty much the same upright design that still requires being plugged in during operation.  It's also more expensive than a Roomba!  WTF.

I'd rather have an autonomous dust-sucking beetle-like robot for less than to get a similarly-clunky-like-the-old-one for more.

A Roomba doesn't knock things over (except maybe tiny things like LEGO figures if I had any, and if they had any reason to be on the floor in the first place) and it's actually more deeper-cleaning than upright vacuums since it uses brushes as well.

You'd think my mom would be more enthusiastic about robot vacuums since she usually does all the vacuuming.  Some people get too used to the old ways and think they like them, even if it's clearly more work.  I'm thinking of getting new furniture for my room anyway so I may get a Roomba for myself and hopefully get my family liking robots.  If they don't learn to like a little dust-sucker now they will have trouble accepting my own R2-D2 in the hopefully near future.  >_>

I've been thinking about one.  I'm sure I mentioned it before.  It's like how I often think about buying an iPod, a laptop, more PixelBlocks, a car, etc....expensive things that I am also too lazy to get, so I keep thinking about buying them again and again...but never actually do buy...yet...

Of course, a Roomba supports laziness...or at least it would if I actually did any housework at home.

Still, the thought of a robot in the home (even if it's just a self-operating vacuum) is pretty cool and may actually push me to buy one.

The reviews I've found are generally very good, but I was wondering if anyone here has had any first-hand experience with them.

You know I'm going to say WTF at that.

Though he is still a truck.  And he has at least some red, at least at the front.

Well, I won't say I downright hate it...at least not until I see the robot form.  Well, it might work after all...compared to some of the other changes, this really isn't too bad.  See, I'm warming up to it already, kinda.

I'm guessing they're not going with the "magically disappearing trailer".  Heh.
