If you're using a ROM you'll probably need to mount the image with a virtual drive, then you can open it the same as if you had the disc.

Maps In Progress / Re: Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis)

Unfortunately I found it completely by accident. When I'm searching for an address I usually narrow it down to a couple hundred results, lock them all at once and then just unlock them so many at a time until I find the one I'm looking for.
I was looking for Sonic's Z address (jump height, I think that would be considered Z?) After getting it down to a low enough number of possible addresses I saved them all & locked them while mid jump, after I found my Z address I still had a bunch of others locked which didn't seem to do anything until I started running, I realized 1 of them was letting me go everywhere. It was just pure luck that I found it.

007DFF72  - 2 Bytes
Remember to make a save state before doing this or you could get stuck in purgatory.
Jump and freeze it mid-air without pausing, when you hit the ground you should be free to roam the stage. A few enemies and objects will still be able hit you but you run over or under most of them.

007D47F8  - 1 Byte
Lock the value at 255 to freeze the water animation. (This is the only other address I have saved for this emulator)

Keep in mind I never finished mapping Stage 2 so I don't know if these work past that point.

I forgot to mention 7mimic does NOT have the sprites or 3d models so there is still a lot that you'll have to add in yourself. Also you may want to try out some field editors for the battle screen backgrounds. There are a few different ones but I've always had trouble getting them to work (likely just my dated computer.)

Trop have you tried using a vram viewer? I've only ever used 'Psx V-Ram', it's a huge pain in the ass & takes forever but there are others out there. I use it for sprites and tiles but just recently I started using it for the pre-rendered backgrounds  in Shadow Madness.

Thank you for this even though it's based on a technicality I appreciate it just the same. I'm really not happy with what I sent in though. I always wanted to do 4 variations (1P, 2P, 3P, 4P) for both of the TMNT games as well as The Simpsons arcade game. Though by the time I get around to that, I'll probably have changed my name again.

I also made an attempt at this game last summer except I quit simply because I had burnt out on mapping at the time. Anyway I may be able to help you out. Completely by accident I came across an address with Cheat Engine that when frozen allows you to walk freely over everything. The address changes based on the emulator so if you let me know which emulator you're using I will try to find that address once more. I found it in both of these emulators 'gens_kmod_maxim_003' 'Gens11svn341' with Cheat Engine 6.2.

I don't mean the game itself I mean the mapping process looks like a nightmare.

I did a little research and this one feels like it could take a while so I'm really not sure when or if I will finish it, but I have started.

I am really surprised none of you know about 7mimic & 8mimic. I wasn't going to say anything but at this point I really don't feel like I will ever finish mapping either FF7 or FF8 myself.
I downloaded them a long time ago but I don't remember where I got either from, so I did a quick google search and found them both now on gamehacking.org. I have not tested the files from their site so if they don't work let me know and I will send you the copies I have.

Jon you're welcome to anything I upload, I post maps here simply because they were a request.
I used VBA-RR v23.6 svn480, Cheat Engine 6.2 & MS Paint

I can't accurately map the Porky Pig or Road Runner stages, each of them are a single screen that scroll repeatedly with enemies moving in at their own speed. I tried with the Porky stages but they came out looking something terrible and kind of confusing. The Tasmanian Devils bonus stage is a very simple memory/guessing game with a total of only 6 cards (3 matches). I loaded it 20+ times and only saw 5 variations, 2 of them only came up once each and I wasn't able to hack it so I have nothing for it.

It's always possible that I missed something so if anyone spots anything or simple has tips or suggestions I would appreciate them.

Can only upload 4 images per post & I don't want to flood a thread so I made an account at imgur.com, not sure if I like it or not so if anyone has a better site to freely upload images please let me know.

If you click the little gear at the top right of an image you can view them in full resolution.

I should have the color version finished by the end of the week.

I was actually 3 stages into the sequel "World of Illusions" when I took up Road Runner. I think there are 4 total in the series if you don't count remakes.

Here are the 1st 4 levels, after this it just keeps recycling them with more stuff added each time. I actually mapped the 1st 20 levels before I noticed the map viewer in mame was duplicating and removing some columns of pixels, so those 20 maps were all a waste, these 4 are fixed though. They don't have the backgrounds & I'm not great at hacking by any standards so I may never be able to get them since they don't show up in the map viewer.

Just out of epidemic curiosity, but will anyone accept our requests?

LTIan pick which game you want most and I'll start on it. My biggest problem is sticking with a game untill the end so I'm not promising that I will finish.

I use Genesis Savestate Viewer. It's basicly the same as vSNES, but for the Genesis. It's better for sprites than maps in my opinion.

I don't know the rules about posting links here so just google "genesis save state viewer" and you will find it at the top of the results.

I actually tried using it for Landstalker a couple years ago & I gotta say you are better off using an emulator with that WTW code, just make a save state everytime you enter a room because you can get stuck very easily in some of them.
