Maps In Progress / Re: Technos' Map Projects
« on: August 21, 2013, 07:41:11 pm »
I'm using an EasyCap and Ulead Video Studio to get my Wii running on my laptop screen.

Update: I have my Wii good to go for the Spyro's Adventure project. I'll start whenever I'm ready. And for THPS, I'm still doing the second of the nine maps because it's quite a big one. I will send three maps in the project at a time.

To see how I draw my original maps, click here. This is an early version of the first map in THPS. The font is hard to read but I fixed that in the final version.

Finished VVVV 4k and A New Dimension. I swear, New Dimension was as hard as the overworld. Took a very long time. No I didn't complete the level correctly, I used the invincibility cheat. There are too many warps in that level so after letters and numbers, I used symbols to label warps.

These bonus level maps can be very helpful if you're not playing on the downloadable 3DS version

Added the final level.

I would like to submit some of these maps. On the vgmaps home page, I click contribute and send my maps through the email, right?

Added intermission levels. The final level could be hard to make because I have to do the annoying tower mapping again. Good thing these are the only tower sections left and that they're short.

To make the tower I need to take screencaps as I proceed through the tower, attach the tile pieces, remove the background, take pictures of the menu background as it's same than the tower bg, and attach the screencaps placed behind the tiles.

This map project should be easy. I'm developing maps for the popular indie title VVVVVV by Terry Cavanagh. There is a total of 15 possible maps to make. There is the 381-room overworld (the rooms are small), two intermission levels, two versions of the final level, and ten bonus levels made by other people. I've completed the overworld map, Dimension VVVVVV, which is the biggest map in the project. The intermission levels are very easy. The bonus levels I'll make if I can beat them, as they're hard. The same maps appear on the Nintendo 3DS eshop version.

Dimension VVVVVV
Intermission level 1
Intermission level 2
Final level part 1
Final level part 2

BONUS LEVELS
VVVV 4k
A new dimension
Line Wrap
Pyramid of Doom
Roadtrip to the Moon
The dual challenge
Variation venture
Variety Show
Vertiginous Viridian
Golden Spiral

So when I converted one map to jpeg, it still can't get it down below the maximum capacity for image uploading. So what I'm going to do is put all png format maps in one zipped folder when I've completed this project and upload it on a file hosting website.

No that's okay.

I'm also going to include the ten online multiplayer missions, the levels shown in the gameplay demo on the start menu, and also the full level in the demo version of Speedy Eggbert which did not appear in the full game. So I'll have to do more maps but most of them are short.

Sweet. I love this game and I love the maps with all the good-looking graphics. But I seem to have lost the game somewhere and I'm trying to find it  :(

Yikes. I'm sorry there wasn't any production of maps during the last few months. There were all kinds of other work to do. I'm also surprised to see no other replys for these three months. I'll try to get back onto this while dealing with the other things I have going on right now.

I'm also going to upload house mission 2 since I just finished it.

The numbered squares represent the reversing boundaries of moving objects. Whenever objects are in between a 1 and 2, they move within their track.

The misalinged rocks were put because to make mapping faster and that the level design didn't include the tiles outside of the possible view when playing the level.

I went through the understanding of PNGgauntlet and decided not to use it because of what's going on with the large file issue. I think It's just about impossible to upload perfectly, which is why I'll be using JPG. Oh well. At least it doesn't ruin the detail much when I JPG'd a map.

I tried to download PNGout, but nothing happened

I got PNGgauntlet, but every time I optimize a map it made it bigger. How do I stop this?
