New Super Mario Bros. 2?
« on: September 08, 2013, 08:01:59 am »
I'm wondering, since it's on the 3DS, is it even possible to map this one? I know the original on DS was mapped, and there was talk about mapping the Wii version as well.

I think the main thing I'm interested in are maps for all the DLC coin packs, to see where all the secrets in those stages are. :)

The only Fox News we're interested in is breakthroughs in his metagame.

3DS emulation is impossible at the moment, as is peeking inside the 3DS filesystem. This is because of a proprietary chip in the 3DS that we really don't know anything about.
However, there is a fundraiser that, once funded, aims to decap this special chip to see how it works. This might eventually lead to a general 'file explorer' of sort.
You can help by donating. It's at 2000 dollars right now, but they need 2300 USD in total.

So what happened to that domain?  Looks to me like they sold it.

I heard that it's possible to rip from 3DS now. :) Spriter's Resource is havin' a-bunch of 3DS-related sprites up.

It is possible, yes, and someone has already even figured out the level format for the game. (I guess it's similar to NSMB/NSMBW.) It may take a while to get the rendering of models, but I bet the base level graphics will be rippable in due time.

Ok. :) So I guess 3DS games can now be mappable.
