IGN has maps for this games, but as JPEG. Still they are worth looking at:

Sounds good. Although I didn't have problems with the GBA/GBC games I mapped but it's better to be prepared for a game that uses the background colour in the foreground when it is an easy task to do.

Thanks for proposing that feature :)

Maybe using collapsing tags (like those that are used for posting spoilers on some boards) for the individual files list of a game, so that the the page itself appears much smaller until you click on a game title you are interested in.

And yeah, databasing would be great. With a search feature :)

Map Requests / RE: Double Dungeons maps for the Turbografx-16
« on: June 23, 2008, 12:53:24 am »
no, I don't demand that. I just said that there are some difficulties in mapping such a game that have to overcome by the person who decides to map the game.

I do not know if anybody wants to map it. I myself never played the game so I do not have much interest in mapping it at the moment.

That game is 3-dimensional. So it can't be plain mapped. I think you have to recreate the map in an isometric fashion like DarkWolf did with Wolfenstein 3D. So one should know how the dungeons are saved in the game's ROM to be able to map it efficiently.

Gaming / RE: Sonic Unleashed is coming...

yay, I hope will be released for PC, too. I really liked Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Heroes.

The trailer looks very promising, although the speed sometimes seems to be even too high. But maybe there are many scripted passages :)

Welcome back, osrevad.

The two years have gone by very fast for me, so I surely do remember you :)

Map Gab / RE: The Sims Bustin' Out (GBA) and Tenchi wo Kurau (GB)

Those Sims Bustin' Out maps are great. I didn't play the game so much, but I played the sequel, The Urbz. :)

Mapping Tips/Guides / RE: PSP Project

yeah, that would be so cool. I also always am on the lookout for programs that can do that. I tried some in the past but they just didn't do it right when I tried them out. They all had the right approach by getting info from what the graphics card is going to render and saving it, but they all didn't really work for me.

This is one of the few movies I am awaiting eagerly. I just hope it will be as good as Indy's old movies. But some scenes already looked very great :)

Apparently the validation just looks for more than two characters after the first dot. Because I had that problem with registering with my .de address and created one that ends with .onet.pl so it's also only two characters after the last dot, but because there's a subdomain before, it worked registering with it.

It's funny to view the video, but I would never play the game. It's similar to many of those Angry Video Game Nerd movies. :)

Mapping Tips/Guides / RE: Labeled vs. Unlabeled Maps
« on: January 06, 2008, 03:10:36 pm »
I decide gameplay-wise. I usually try to put in all the important information for being able to succesfully master the game and leave out all the rest. For example normal enemies that can be killed without any big problems would never get onto my maps. But I already mapped games where I left all enemies in, for example the Amiga game Aunt Arctic Adventure, because you cannot kill the enemies and therefore they are a real threat for you.

And I count on the viewer's/player's talent to combine certain aspects, for example when I show a key on a map I won't tell where to use it except when it is not obvious. On my Dizzy map I put in a mini walkthrough because I thought it wasn't clear how to use the items correctly. But my Tomb Raider maps didn't have any help because I thought it was quite easy to combine things when seeing the map.

Although I have to admit that I am not totally consistent with these rules. Sometimes I just have an idea what would look nice and do it, for example I labeled almost everything on my Secret Of Evermore maps. But I don't think the maps were bad because of this.

But I do not have a special preference towards maps of you. I like many styles and do not mind something new. Although I hate incomplete maps, for example isometric view games that have stepped borders instead of diagonal ones.

74
I am not sure if I told this already, but I am out of this project, sorry. I do not even have enough time/delight to create normal maps and creating creative selfmade ones is way off at the moment.

But it's nice that this project is still in the makes and that you, JonLeung, will keep the ball running. Good luck and prosperity :)

I have been sick one time this year, I think. But I still had a nice time then, I played Knights Of The Old Republic 2 most of that time period and it worked well because I could pause the game every time I needed to blow my nose.

At the moment I am fine, but seeing that the year comes to an end and I did not finish mapping a single game this year, and even didn't really start anything except for small testing stages, is a bit sad. But maybe next year :)
