VGMaps Social Board / RE: Site Improvement Idea.
« on: June 02, 2008, 10:28:52 am »
The Ctrl+F thing was just a sidenote. The purpose of this is to help VGMaps.com increase its visitors through search engines.

I'm not an expert at these matter, but from what little research I've done it might help.

VGMaps Social Board / Site Improvement Idea.
« on: June 01, 2008, 11:58:51 pm »
This idea would take some work, but I don't think nearly as much as the site-wide PNG conversion that happened a few years ago. This idea could potentially increase the site visibility a good deal.

The PageRank of VGMap.com is good enough to be #1 if you search for "game maps" and other similar terms. But go to Google and search the internet for video game maps for a specific game. Unfortunately, I've found that VGMaps usually isn't on the front page if you do this.

The reason specific games usual don't show up nearly as well is that the name of the game doesn't appear as text anywhere on the page that the maps are listed.

So my proposal is simply to  find a way to put the name of the game somewhere, and have it still look good. I realize the name of game is already contained in the logo, but I still don't think it would look too redundant to do do something like this.

Something like unto that. Maybe there's a better-looking way to do it. Feel to discuss/reject this idea, or ask how long it took to make that stupid visual aid.

-It would also make Ctrl+F more useful in finding maps.

-Maybe try this as Beta on only one console to see if it actually helps.

Where is the list of projects that I started on a whim, but never completed? Or has that ever happened? Will it happen with this project? Tune in tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion.

I actually remember you asking for all of those maps, and I thought, "who does this guy think is, asking for all those maps?"

I forgot that I made this topic. It's good to see that there are still quite a few people on this board still that I know.

TerraEsperZ, you can use as many capital letters as you want to with my name. I think I actually prefer it that way now.

Today I registered for classes at the Community Classes. Just an English and Math class for the summer, although it's my first time going to a college. The quarter starts June 23rd.

The fact that my Math Textbook alone costs $150 is kind of discouraging, plus there's the "optional" $50 "Solutions Book" that goes with it. Somebody must be making a lot of money.

I haven't gotten another job yet. I have no plans to get one until at least this fall.

It looks like you're right. They used that island as the basis for the one in Wii Fit, with some differences.

I actually had the same wishful thinking myself, but alas, no such luck. Maybe I'll discover when I'm done that the island is shaped like Mario's head or something, but that's just more wishful thinking.

I've decided to make the city the north side of the island. I won't have to draw all of the builing diagonally now, so it should look a lot better. Here's my rough draft of the city, which should be the hardest part. I'm pretty accurate with all the proportions to the point will nobody will notice anything wrong. It will be much easier to read once I color it.

I plan on mapping it manually. All the measurements will have to being approximations, but that isn't as hard as it sounds. I do plan on showing the routes, but I will need to have separate images for each distance setting, or else they will get too tangled up.

Here's my very first work in progress image. I still have a long way to go before it's complete, and even longer to add all the details and make it look polished.

The short route starts at the big white circle and goes clockwise around there. The medium path starts to the right of the bridge at the bottom, and follows the path clockwise around the river.

I'm not even sure which way should be north. Any ideas?

I'm back with a vengeance!

One thing you may not know about osrevad is that he is a fatty. Or as Wii Fit calls me every single sinking day: Obese.

All of this really has nothing to do with anything. But in the game Wii Fit there are many exercises that you can do. There is even one where you put the Wii Remote in your pocket and jog in place. The best part about this is that there is a huge beautiful island that you get to "run" around. You don't have total control over where you run; you're limited to a set path. But this path varies depending on the difficulty and length of your run. There's also some forks in the path that you can choose by following a dog.

The point is that I cannot not resist the urge to map everything out. I've barely started, but I will post my progress as I work along.

It's been two whole years since I've been here. I'm really not sure how many people here know me.

I got back from my missionary trip last Wednesday night, April 9th. I've been meaning to post here sooner, but I've been pretty swamped with other things to catch up on, such as applying for college and other matters.

Anyways, it's good to be back. I still have the same love, for all kinds of maps, which I had before my mission. However, it's going to be a struggle to find the time to contribute to the site as much as I used to. My old computer was inherited by my little brother, so currently I don't have a computer of my own that I can work non-stop like before.
