Since it seems no one knows how to access these remaining areas I filled them in with the primary tiles.

You can find them here:

There's are also some extra maps I made of level 9 and I included a walkthrough that I found online.

Back to the original subject, I've gone through and replayed it myself. I now have maps of levels 1-10. However, before I consider them complete there are still some areas that trouble me. On level 6 there is a cross shaped platform. On level 7 there's a room with 2 ladders in it.

My suspicion is that these had some significance in an earlier version and are just inaccessible in version 2.0. Support for this theory is that when approaching the ladder on level 8 to reach an area on level 2 I get sent there immediately. Where as if I were allowed to reach the ladder normally it might first send me to level 7, then level 6, before getting to level 2.

Also on level 9 there's a room in the fire trial that I can't reach the edges of due to teleporting. Plus on level 5 I can't see all of the walkway around the starting position.

If anyone has details about these areas it would be appreciated.

I have several DOS games in mind that I'd like to make maps for. But I'd like to do this in an automated way.

First task is taking screen shots. I use Gadwin Printscreen to save a file but I'd have keep hitting printscreen, then move, then hit printscreen some more. Is there a program that will continually take screenshots, say once a second?

Next is masking. For one game I can access the editor mode and look over the whole area but after I get the screenshots I'd want to remove the interface from the bottom portion. That's a tedious task. Is there a program that will apply a given mask to all the files in a folder?

Finally I've seen mentioned in a few topics a program for stitching screenshots together. Could someone explain how to use it?

It was a drive I used for backups. The thing is I did some cleaning and organized my files so that I didn't have the originals when this one failed. Since I'm not a business I can't afford a lot of places to store data.

I thought I had it too until my hard drive decided otherwise. I lost everything I worked on over the past 3 months.

Could you post that again? The hard drive I saved it to died this past weekend.

Those maps look great. Would it be possible to do the same with Planet Strike and Corridor 7 since there is nothing for those games yet?

Okay. Looks good. I was thinking of replaying it and drawing the general shape of the levels myself. With these I have quite a bit to go from. Thanks.

I scanned a map I drew with pen and paper years ago.

This is the level later in the game that teleports you around. I don't recall how accurate this is.

The location of Freddy's house is random.

The rest of the game is in the house but it looks less like a house as you progress. The walls and floor become slime. The floor is grating with no walls, just a black pit between them. And there are ice areas like within a cave.

One of the last levels is a clock with trails of fire as the hands.

Tropicon, I finished the game years ago. I'm going from memory.

Kincaid can punch through walls as his ability. There are also pickaxes available in later levels.

There's a map you can collect but I don't think I could backtrack after I found it.

The room with the grenade and axe sounds correct. I got it to open once, I just don't know how.

I'm not familiar with Cheat Engine. I'm currently going through my DOS games and getting them to work in DOSBox.

It is very different from the NES game.

Particular parts:

- In the first few levels you can tunnel through walls, I've been curious if there are any outlying areas to tunnel to.

- In the second level there's a switch that usually says you broke it. Occasionally it will open an area to a few items. Are there conditions for this switch?

- on the grated level there are buttons that need to be up or down in a combination to proceed. The combinations should be noted.

- On one ice level the squares teleport you around based on the direction you approach from. A path through this area would be helpful.

This game came out in 1989 for Commodore 64 and DOS PCs. As far as I know no one has made a map of the levels or even written a guide for it. Does anyone have this game and is willing to put the time into it, or know of a way to read the data directly from the files?

Mapping Tips/Guides / RE: Getting maps hosted on gamefaqs

Greetings, I found this site while looking for maps for some old DOS games. I'm quite active on GameFAQs and submitted a few things myself.

GameFAQs is primarily about guides and less about visual detail. In your example the first thing I noticed was that all those trees were visually distracting. It was only after I zoomed in that I could understand how the trails were connected and see that you labeled a few things.

I've only made two maps on my own. For Dark Seed II and Maabus. They're nowhere as nice as yours but I think I made it very clear what information I wanted to convey in them.

If you want to make something for the purpose of submitting it to GameFAQs the simplest advice would be to make your labels large and leave out anything that would draw attention away from them. They also like maps with a centralized legend.
