I've never been in so much pain in my life. OW.
« on: February 20, 2009, 01:10:25 pm »
I woke up at 3 AM and was okay.  I went back to sleep.

I woke up at 5:50 AM as usual for work, and had a little trouble getting out of bed because my right shoulder hurt.

After breakfast I contemplated not coming in because my shoulder got worse.  But I decided to go, though driving to work was fun considering I couldn't do shoulder checks.

The pain got worse over the morning, and turned into a shooting pain that makes it hard to do anything with my right arm.  My boss, who was a baseball pitcher, figures that it's probably a pinched nerve or it could be spasming because I had a not-too intelligent jumping jack competition a few days ago with my brother.  Either way it should pass in a day or two.

A co-worker gave me two massages and another got me some Robaxacet.  Then he drove me home in my car (since I was in no shape to drive at all now) and he got a ride back with another co-worker.

I can't lie down because I have trouble getting up.  I want to do some kind of work but it's hard to use the mouse.

So this morning I watched Double Dragon (1994).  It took my mind off the pain.  Now I'm contemplating watching some D.O.A.: Dead Or Alive (2006) because there's not much else I can do with this #$%@! sharp sensation that comes every few seconds that renders my right arm useless.  It hurts to type, so I should probably stop writing this.

I'm really sorry to hear about your shoulder, Jon.

Have ya tried taking some sort of pain killer and putting a hot wash clothe on your shoulder?

I can't believe that ya didn't (forgive me for saying this) think about what the outcome of the jumping jack competition would be if ya went against your brother at your (gasp) Age??    :|

No offence to that last line, Jon.

Is this the seasons of dumb injuries?

Because I've been collecting them for the last few months or so. First I broke my left pinky toe against a wall corner after chasing my cat to put her away for the night, then my right knee that was hit by a trailer two years ago started acting up (was swollen and painful for two weeks), and three days ago I managed to sprain my left little finger after slipping on ice.

Oh yeah, and I also got one heck of a food poisoning case earlier this week, with lots of throwing up and dizziness, though thankfully that was over soon after (the combination of needing sleep and becoming sick the moment I'd lie down made for a very tiring afternoon).

Oh yeah, enough about me :P

Hopefully you can use anti-inflammatory or pain killing medication for the few days that this is likely to last.

Though I hope that suicidal mood will lift soon, because *nobody* deserves to go through the Double Dragon movie, even if it *is* self-inflicted :)

Double Dragon wasn't as bad as I thought, because I already had abysmally low expectations for it.  I didn't get around to watching D.O.A. (perhaps that would've been a better choice?) because now I want to try updating VGMaps, painful as it is to use the computer.

I took a 50 minute rest which was relatively peaceful but now the shooting pain, though much less frequent, seems to be much more painful when it does shoot through.  WTF.

It's messing up my posture as it's hard to keep my head up straight, as the pain affects the flexibility of my neck.

Heh, I'm always blowing out my hand, shoulder, wrist.  Usually because of too much time on the computer.  Don't you hate working with your non dominant hand?  I can barely use the mouse at all.

The funny thing is, I've been using my left hand for the mouse ever since I spent one year working as a programmer in a far-from-ergonomic environment and practically gave myself carpal-tunnel syndrome in my right wrist.

The movie isn't as painful as playing the game.  Honestly I don't know what people like about Double Dragon.  It's one of the worst beat'em up engines ever written.  Although the Neo-Geo game was ok.

Sorry for the side-track, hope you get better.

Ouch.  Sounds like a pinched nerve.  Hope you get feeling better soon.

Well, sleep last night was a little awkward, I ended up putting some folded clothes under my pillow because I could only sleep on my back but doing it that way felt like it wasn't providing my neck the support it needed so I had to raise the height of the pillow slightly.  I managed to get enough sleep somehow.

I'm feeling better now.  My neck and shoulder are still not at 100%, but it's more because of stiffness and there's not anywhere near as much pain.  The shooting sensation was there in the morning but it's gone now and probably won't return if I stay on top of my Robaxacet.

I will be taking it easy today and I should be close enough to full functionality tomorrow.

I've had a pinched nerve in the neck before too. It was a year or two ago, and I don't remember what caused it, but man it was painful. I recall that if I leaned my head even a bit to the right, the pain would try to kill me, so my head and shoulders looked rather lopsided.

And as far as dumb injuries are concerned, I recently (this week) got a nose bleed on the outside of my nose while playing volleyball. I guess that's what I get for botching a headbutt while wearing glasses. :P

My friend pinched a nerve in his elbow so bad that he had to get surgery :-S

Anyway, I hope you feel better soon.

Hope ya get better Jon..

Try not to do too much with your right arm and shoulder for a couple of days and take some painkillers for the pain when needed..
