Map Gab / The Lion King (SNES)

Finally I've finished that difficult seventh stage, so here's a map of it for your viewing pleasure.

I hope that the rest of the game (three stages) will  be easy so that it won't take too long anymore.

PS: I still miss the possibility to write in colours or to use link images.

Gaming / RE: What are your favourite game soundtracks?
« on: June 17, 2006, 09:13:01 am »
That's definitely a great topic. And a great list you have put together, Terra :)

I might edit this post later to add more links and other liked soundtracks because I am not good at remembering all of them at the same time:

Commodore Amiga

Aunt Arctic Adventure

This game has to come first. The music is one of the greatest musics I have heard in any game. Every now and then I just start humming one of the tunes without having heard it again because they are so memorable. Without the music, the game would never have got such a special place in my heart.

Lemmings

The music isn't that special and many of the tunes are just remixes of classical tunes or children songs but I still like the music very much because of the simplicity.

Lotus Turbo Challenge II

There isn't much music in this racing game, but the title/menu music is just so great. When I play it I always have to wait until the menu music is over before I start the race. It's sad that during the races no music is played because I am sure it would have been of a similar quality.

PC

Zak McKracken And The Alien Mindbenders

The music is great and has got maybe the best quality I have ever heard coming from the PC speaker. Despite the fact that the PC speaker can only play one tone at a time, you hear many different instruments in the intro song. And while most PC speaker tunes I have heard sound a bit out of rhythm because of that, everythings seems timed correctly for this game. A logistic masterstroke.

Monkey Island series

I like the whole carribean flair of the music and almost every song sounds great in these games.

Nintendo Entertainment System

Mega Man 1

Unlike Terra I like the tunes of the first part the most. They are the ones that I can remember best and I like the rhythms.

The progress on my map projects is also slow as hell. Between a few-days-phase of mapping there sometimes is up to a month (or more) of pausing because of other things that have to be done.

I plan to finish Lion King but the current stage doesn't help on getting forward as I have to take at least four screenshots just to get one usable screen on the resulting map because of the same colour in the foreground/background (turning off the background layer results in a complete black ground - that would make it impossible to seperate foreground & background) and the only option I have is to move a bit every time so that the foreground is distinguishable somehow.

But I don't think that I will completely abandon mapping soon because I like the challenge and the possibility to add something personal to a favourite game of mine.

Gaming / RE: Any of you guys play StarCraft?
« on: June 12, 2006, 04:01:03 pm »
Several years ago I played many network games with my two brothers (Command & Conquer 2, Duke Nukem 3D,Age Of Empires,Starcraft..). But that has changed and today I hardly play any online/network games. And I play none with my own computer - when I visit one of my friends I sometimes play Counter Strike or Unreal Tournament with him because he's got a laptop but that's all about network games.

Geminiman heavily worked on Mega Man - The Wily Wars, too. You might want to edit that in :)

Well, Congratulations Geminiman!

Is the tower with the many platforms, which is located in front of the purple clouds, one of the areas which spins around?

I also do not see anything related to quote. And although I added an avatar link in my profile, the picture area on the whois site still says [None Specified] - or are these two things different ones?

My opinion is that everyone should have the powers of hyperlinks and images, but maybe it's not the consensus.

I would like to participate. Kirby seems fine. I don't have got a personal opinion about Secret Of Mana because I don't know it well - only played it in multiplayer once for two hours or so.

The animations are very good and fluid. I only saw the three most recent ones until now but at least these have been great to watch. Although the music in the littleFoot movie was a bit sparely.

Well, it's not a very clear vision. It's more like thinking of these motions although you do not want it - and you cannot stop it for that limited time.

It's similar to ear worms as you also do not really hear them but just have to whistle or hum them all the time.

I also experienced it some times. Most of the times I had it when I played a computer game late at night (and for a long time) and then went to bed very soon afterwards - for example once when I had to fight the last boss in Sonic Adventure DX (with Sonic) and needed 50 tries or so and still hadn't beaten him - I went to bed and just saw how I continued using the same method over and over again in my head.

And I once got it when I played Tetris Attack for a very long time in the endless mode.

There sure have been more times but I cannot remember them at the moment.

VGMaps Social Board / RE: What if...
« on: May 13, 2006, 12:06:35 pm »
That would be quite strange. But I am not quite sure if you really would never realize that something is wrong with you. I mean people would get up if it is quite dark outside and everyone sleeps when colours get lighter outside, although the words would be inverted in your vocabulary so that the dark colours are called light ones and light colours are called dark ones. So everything would be fine when talking about it.

It would also be very white inside caves but still you wouldn't be able to see anything more than us there because there would be no other colour than that white just like for us there is nothing else than black.

It's funny that I cannot find any situation in which someone would realize something is wrong just by your reactions as you would learn in early years to fear the brightness (called darkness then) and that dark colours are friendly.

Although here comes a difficult question, what happens if some colour related things are determined by the genes?

For example if tiredness is set by the brain when it gets dark around you - would you become night-active? And would red attract special attention for you or would it just perish in all other colours because it's just a light blue?
