Do you mean the one directly north of it, two tiles up?

Do you think it has to do with it being lined up with all the enterable areas?  Because none of the other pyramids are... except for the one you actually do have to enter before going to the castle.  I'm surprised it doesn't lead to a duplicate of that pyramid stage, actually...

Yeah, that's the one. Like you said, it's the only one that adheres to the "grid", so I assume that's why it works, to a degree. The rest of the decorative pyramids *not* on the "grid" just glitch up the game. (See below.)

Are there any other off-path areas you can enter using that cheat?

You can "enter" quite a few map objects, some of which you normally couldn't in a normal game, such as the little water holes, the dancing flowers on the world 4 map, and the icebergs on the world 6 map... though most of them either freeze the game, lead to a glitched stage that usually kills you instantly or *also* freezes the game, or, and most bizarrely, lead to a weird "stage" that attempts to use the world map's graphics, but are horribly glitched. You can't do anything in them.

I tested every "enterable" area a long time ago, and *did* find a few that actually *led* somewhere (I recall one of the icebergs in world 6 led to a duplicate of... I think it was 6-8?, and another one led to a hammer bros. stage), though I can't recall the specifics.

Also, as an aside... if you use a Game Genie code that forces you to automatically enter levels, the START panel on world 1, oddly enough, leads to an unused stage.

This is quite early, and you probably can't normally get a Hammer before this if memory serves.  But if you hacked the game or used a Game Genie code or something to get a Hammer here, could you break it to skip both 1-5 and 1-6?

This is an old post, but... well, I don't come to the forums very often, so I just saw it. Despite that it very much looks breakable, no, it isn't. While this isn't possible to try in the NES version without cheats, you *can* go back to World 1 in the All-Stars and Advance versions with a hammer, and... still, no. There are actually multiple types of rocks in the data, two that break and reveal horizontal and vertical paths, respectively, and a couple others that are just decoration, which is what this one is. I assume the devs figured it'd be impossible to get here with a hammer, didn't make it breakable, then just forgot about the possibility to do so in later versions.

Bonus fun fact: If you were to use a "move anywhere on the map" cheat to access the pyramid on the first screen of the world 2 map, just above the first Toad house, you'd find it's... a duplicate of said Toad's house. Trying to enter the others on the map just glitches the game.

Question about the Elw Dimension map... I've wondered for *years* if those two side islands were actually present on the map, and I'm curious as to whether what's shown in your map is all that's actually there, or if that's just all you were able to get without any sort of tools. If it's the latter, I guess some sort of "overworld walk through walls" code would be in order...

Still, nice to finally see "actual game graphics" maps for Filgaia. I'm genuinely surprised none existed until now. Good job! Heck, all of your PS1 maps are pretty dang amazing! Looking forward to seeing more of them in the future!

Oh hey, it's my... one post a year or whatever. :P

I'm digging those Shinseiki Odysselya maps, but I have a question. Is there a translation patch for that game somewhere, or are the treasures and such your own translations? I know that game was slated for an English release (as "Lost Mission", shown in an issue of Nintendo Power), but... I have no idea if a ROM of it was ever leaked and dumped.

Just finished a playthrough of Terranigma, and I noticed that there are actually a few maps missing from the site, most notably the Castle of Dragoon and Beruga's Tower (not to be confused with his lab). Maybe a few other things, too. So, I'm gonna go ahead and assemble maps of them... maybe do some additional mapping, as well. Interestingly, there seems to be quite a lot of the Castle of Dragoon you can't see unless you use a walk through walls code. I've always been fascinated by things like that, so...

Just out of curiosity, outside of the world map (and possibly the Great Glacier snow field, though I have absolutely no idea *how* you'd map *that* featureless mess), are there any FF7 maps you have left to do? I don't see any *obvious* omissions, but there could be a couple I'm forgetting offhand. Awesome work on them, though, as always! I've always loved the detail that went into FF7's backgrounds.

... there is a Magic Counter materia in the Northern Cave. I... have played FF7 many times, and I never knew that was there. Wow. Would've saved me a lot of trouble trying to get that from the Chocobo Races. :P  (Of course, there are still a couple *other* materia exclusive to that minigame, so I'd need to play it *anyhow* for 100% completion, but still.)

That world map. So many little oddities just off screen. That must've been a pain to rip... great job! (Mm. My favorite game ever. Squee.)

Interesting that Banner Village is displayed on the map... if I remember correctly, you're just taken there automatically and can't normally see it. Likewise with Magician's Isle in the first game, which oddly, you *can* see on the mini-map, but are, again, taken to and from it automatically.

Mmm. Nostalgia. I played this game as a kid; pretty fun little adventure game. Nice job mapping out the optional, minor planets, too... a lot of people would've missed those.

I've never actually played Uninvited or Deja Vu, just Shadowgate. If that one works out, maybe I'll give the others a shot. Not sure on when I'll get started, though. After an intense week of mapping, a short break is in order. I do have a rough idea of how I'll handle it, but we'll see once I get to it if it *works*.

At any rate, I'm finished with Cosmo Police Galivan. Pretty interesting game, not *too* hard to map. I included all the secret passages, areas that change for one reason or another, and locations of items and bosses. I didn't include normal enemies, because I really had no practical way of doing so. Should be good enough, though. I'm also submitting them via e-mail just to make sure this time, since I've been bad about that in the past. But until they make the site, here they are:

Important Edit: I just noticed and corrected a rather big labeling error on Area 6's map. I had the wrong room marked as the place where you get the Cosmo Blade upgraded. If anyone downloaded the map, refresh the URL above and re-download the updated map!

Cosmo Police Galivan is basically finished, but before I can submit it, I have to go back and fix a dumb mistake I made... I forgot to take a screenshot of the boss of the fourth area. I literally remembered this *right after* defeating it, and since the game auto-saves, I basically have to replay up to that point to fight it again. Joy. Fortunately, the longest part of the game was in mapping it out, so it shouldn't take more than a day or so to get that and declare the maps finished.

As an aside, I was surprised to see that Shadowgate (NES) wasn't on the site. I might take that one on, since I've always enjoyed it; maybe do one of those little "walkthrough" maps. Something like that. We'll see.

Daaaaaaang, those Ultima 6 maps are *excellent*. I daresay some of your finest work to date. That level of detail is extremely impressive. Makes me want to replay the game, even. :P

Excellent. I've finished ripping the map of the first area. Not quite sure how long this game is, and the rooms don't always *quite* connect properly (some rooms will have little gaps in them on my maps... this is just how it's done in-game), but it's going well so far. Neat little Metroidvania-style game, too.

I... suddenly reappear again.

Is anyone doing Cosmo Police Galivan for NES? There are... a lot of active threads, and going through them all would take a while, so... just asking here first. I decided to give the game a try, and it seems pretty interesting and easy enough to rip. If someone's already taking this game on, no big. I just want to know so I don't duplicate anyone's efforts. :P

Just out of curiosity, and... not to be rude or anything, but... is there some reason my Castlequest map hasn't been added yet? Is there a part of the submission process I'm missing? I know it's been...quite a while since my last submission, so I admit I may have forgotten...
