Maps In Progress / Re: FlyingArmor's Map Projects Present and Future

I love your Dragon Quest and Dragon Warrior Maps. I used them on latest replaying of the games. Any thoughts on ever mapping Dragon Quest 6 for the SNES?

gzip wont be worth the time, the more and more links and images that get added to each main index page just adds to the problem. So the best solution is for each game to have their own individual page, so the URL's will be something like:

etc, etc.

That way the NES, SNES, etc Map index pages can just be links to those pages, so it wont need the game logos on the Atlas index pages, nor would it have links to the thousands of maps for every single game all on one page. The logos and individual map links would be on the individual pages ( would display the game logo, and all links to maps of that game)

A few other things:

1. You should use all lowercase letters on URL's, not like this: (Atlas/SuperNES) and (NewsArchives/MapsOfTheMonth)

2. The URL's of the pages are too long ( should be changed to (

( to (

( to ( etc, etc

A simple code can be used to automatically forward (Atlas/SuperNES/index.htm) to (snes), so anyone who has that bookmarked will automatically be sent to the correct page, and they get sent immediately without even noticing that the page was forwarded.

3. You should also stop using .htm extensions completely

4. Some of the fonts on the home page are way too small, the fonts on the left Atlas Menu's, and the fonts for the site updates.

5. New tables need to be created for the map links, new modern tables styled with CSS, different than the ones the site currently has.

6. The website needs a new logo, maybe that same font can be used, but the current logo reminds me of web sites created back in the 1990's.

7. Those Casino ads on the main home page should probably go, any sites that display ads like that usually get a bad reputation, also people tend to think those ads lead to virus or spam sites.

8. Project Wonderful should probably go as well, there are much better ad networks out there, I can recommend some.

For me, setting up the new layout and how the links will be displayed on the main Atlas pages, changing/forwarded the longer .htm URL's, and creating the codes best suited for the CSS tables for the map links is all very easy. I already have the entire layout in my head without even having to write anything down to remember. It will be an easy to use layout.

But the long, hard part will be adding the thousands of maps to the new layout. But in the end it will be all worth it, with the new layout you can easily add thousands and thousands of maps without hurting load time for users.

The problem will not be solved by gzip, the problem is that there are way, way too many links on pages.

How many links are on this page?

What about this page?

The problem is putting the links to every single individual NES map all on 1 page, and then the same done for each system. That entire page with 600,000 or more links, plus hundreds and hundreds of images for game logos has to be loaded, even if you just want to look at maps for 1 individual game.

The entire site needs to be restructured and redone. It needs a better navigation system and modern html and css coding.

I can redo the entire site for you if interested.

Map Requests / Super Mario World NES Version
« on: February 01, 2015, 10:53:01 am »
Can someone map the Pirated NES Version of Super Mario World? that would be awesome to see those maps. I know someone made an overworld map, but every single level would be cool too.

It says new SOTN maps yesterday, but which ones are new, or were changed?

Also do you think there should be something saying which maps are new when new ones get added, instead of it just saying the game title? Because not everyone is going to know which map is new, especially when the game has tons of maps for it already.

This is a tough one just to pick 3, but I'd have to say:

1. Dragon Warrior 3

2. Contra

3. Guerrilla War

This is the game that helped launch the Mario Golf series. Great maps, btw

I second this request. I think someone mapped like 1 level a few years ago then quit on it.

Great job as usual. So glad this game is getting mapped.

Message Board Help / Entire site loading too slow
« on: January 12, 2013, 10:09:00 am »
Is anyone else having an issue with the site taking too long to load? I think it may have to do with way too many links on one page. For example, loading the NES Maps Index page takes forever

Clicking on that link and it takes a long time for the entire page to load because each game with all of those hyper links are loading.

I think since there are so many maps you are going to have to redo the entire site to where each game has its own individual page for maps, like NES Maps does

When you click on a link from NES Maps it is an individual page for each game. That way you are not having to wait for the images, and all of the hyperlinks to load. Some of these games have 50 to 100 maps per game, you have to wait for all of these links to load just to see the game you are looking for which may only have 5 maps.

It will take you a long time to do, but for the better of the site I think each game needs its own page, rather than all of the links on 1 index page. There are too many URL's in the coding of these index pages, thus making it difficult to load the pages quickly.

Looks great. So on this game are you just going to map levels that are only on this version, and then just use the existing SNES maps since they are the same? I have not played this version yet so I dont know if it is the same as SNES or if it has added levels.

Maps In Progress / Re: Castlevania: Dawn Of Sorrow (DS)

Great to hear that you are working on this game again. In a way DOS was a better version of Aria of Sorrow, made specifically because the DS was just being released. I still like the game a lot though.

Thanks I am glad you made these posts, I had been meaning to ask you which AOS maps were updated. Its too bad the main page does not say which specific maps are added for each game.

Wow I cant believe it took 3 years. I do remember at least a year ago wondering when these would be finished. You really cranked a bunch of them out at the end to finish.
