Mapping Tips/Guides / Question about sprite sheets

http://www.spriters-resource.com/psx_ps2/cvsotn/draculaprelude.png

What is the best way for me to get Dracula off here and onto a black background?

Should I use photoshop and change the bg color to black, then crop out the particular Dracula sprite I want? Or should I used something else like Lasso Tool?

thanks

Maybe you can make 2 versions and post them on here. One in all black, and one in a bg color of your choice.

thanks guys, I had been trying with Alucard but didnt try with Richter. It looked like it may have been a useless area, but its still good that you included it since people can go there.

I bought Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for PS3 and with it I got a free download of Symphony of the Night. Even though I have SOTN on Playstation and have beaten that game several times I went ahead and played it again on PS3 this time, beating it in about 14 hours. That game is so addictive to me.

Also still working on Dragon Quest 9 for the DS, and I took a break from New Super Mario Bros. Wii cuz I was busy, but just started on that again. I am in World 4.

Hey guys I have a question on this map here:

https://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/PSX/Castlevania-SymphonyOfTheNight-Dracula%27sCastle-Entrance.png

See the area right at the beginning of the castle, the far lower left of the map, there is a cavern you drop down into and a save room to the left of it. I never knew that existed till I saw this map. Can someone tell me how to get in there? I tried hitting the floor right above it, I had each of the 5 familiars active and none of them did anything with getting me in there. I also tried transforming into the Mist.

I also checked walkthroughs on sites like gamefaq and no one seemed to mention that area.

thanks.

I think that the SOTN Maps that were recently posted on here were the best I have ever seen because they used black for the background. It made the map stand out more. I am able to find the areas of the castle on the maps I am looking for quickly. I remember someone else from Japan made his own SOTN maps years ago and used white for the BG color, and I had wished he used black.

On the map you have here: http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/2775/ariaofsorrow.jpg

the background looks good, but when you make the map bigger and its pixelated you cant tell what it is. Also the colors are distracting when you enlarge the map. I do like how you have the Map Key, its cool to add stuff like that.

I think this map of yours is great

https://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/GBA/Castlevania-AriaOfSorrow-Castlevania.png

because you used black for the background. Its Castlevania, it has got to be black all the way. That's how Dracula would have wanted it.

Looks good so far. I suggest using black as a background color, the map will stand out more.

These maps look great. I wish it was also mapped out for each individual section like Harmony of Dissonance is, but that would probably require redoing all the maps.

Didn't you request this before? I know someone did, but I can't remember who it was... Anyway, it's been long enough since I've initially made them that individual maps *might* be something I'd do. It wouldn't take much work to adjust the borders since I only made a few breaks to allow the various sections to align correctly, and removing them wouldn't take long. Don't hold your breath too much on this since there's a good chance I might not remember this once I get home (still a week to go in France).

I dont remember if I requested that on here or not prior to now. Maybe its a popular request.

Map Requests / Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth

Would it be possible to map this game? This is not the original Game Boy version, I mean the one they made specifically for the Wii last year. Also is there a way to get the monster sprites from the game even though its only on Virtual Console?

I can rip those, they're pretty small.  Each world is only 160 x 64.

Great job on the most recent maps you added for this game. I cant wait till they are all finished.

Still working on replaying Resident Evil 3: Nemesis for the Gamecube, I am about halfway done. Also still playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and am on World 4. I got Dragon Quest 9 right when it came out and have been playing that a lot, but am still early on in the game.
