Thank you so much, Jon! You're so generous and I'm really humbled by this whole experience. I am so happy to hear VGC & Raccoon Sam both received something too!!! I was really impressed (and inspired!) with their entries and it was awesome to see different approaches to celebrating the 20th anniversary.

Retro gaming in particular has become a life long passion for me and to share this hobby with so many nice people around the world has been such a blessing. The massive amount of content contributed by everyone over the last 20 years is so amazing and I really look forward to seeing how the Video Game Atlas evolves even further into the future!

Here's my entry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHyMgzlGKBU

This was definitely a different style video than I'm used to making, but the whole process of learning new editing techniques was a really rewarding experience for me!

Also, I just noticed we had a username change that happened somewhat recently and unfortunately I had the old name in the video  :(

That was really cool, VGC! You featured an amazing amount of maps!!

I'm afraid mine is a bit slower paced, but I'm still really excited to share it.
I have to admit my "vision" for the video changed so many times over the last month and there were a few times I almost gave up  :-[
It was really a challenge for me to see this project through until the end, but I'm glad I did since I learned so many new techniques in the process!

Today I'm cleaning up a few minor issues and will get it rendered and uploaded to YouTube tonight. I'll probably wait until tomorrow to post it since it takes so long for YT to encode in HD.

I see it was featured on GoNintendo, as well.

Regardless, I'm sure this will eventually become your most popular video.

Hadn't seen that yet so thanks for pointing it out as I'm trying to follow wherever it's shared.

It also made it on the front page of Kotaku too!

Thanks everyone for the positive support!

And the fact that the re-release coincided so closely was purely happenstance! I had no idea it was coming out :D

And VGMaps.com made it all possible! While it's missing a few effects, I'm still happy with as far as I got into making this:

What do you think?

Hi guys! Sorry for my long absence. As some of you know (I've seen your comments ;)), I'm still making Atlas Videos. I figured I'd stop by and present the latest one:

NES Atlas: Snake Rattle N Roll (Aglar's Speed Run)

I've got a bunch more stuff in the works too (and plenty of unfinished projects).

And a big thanks to all the mappers who put in the hard work already which makes these possible!

After reading this, I've immediately tagged my videos with "VGMaps.com" to help with the quality of your YouTube search results. It will probably take a few days or so before it makes an impact though. They had already showed up after searching, but only because I put links in the description back to here. I'm hoping with the added tags now it should make them appear higher up than those troll videos.

Actually I can animate stuff off-screen... I just haven't done it that often as it just adds to the creation time.

See Prince of Persia for an example.

I'm sure I'll put in the extra effort at some point again, but I'm taking baby steps for now like with the parallax background in Metal Storm (which should be done by Friday I think).

Yeah there's actually a couple other people who've made an atlas video after I did. I've been trying to keep track of all of them:

and there's this guy:

This one mixes an atlas video with real footage:

and this guy even made a rough program to line up the video:

Unfortunately I believe he stopped working on it :(

As for me... I'm working on Metal Storm which will include my first attempt at a parallax background... with a big thanks to TerraEsperZ!

That's a great idea! Simulating a parallax background would most definitely be kickass  :D

I haven't started yet so please do post them if you have them!

These are great and make me want to do a complete Battletoads atlas video from start to finish!

These looks great! Thanks Terra... I'll post the video(s) here when I'm done. Might take a couple days or so.

The 2 raw maps should be just fine. These two levels go infinitely in both horizontal and vertical directions so I'll have to work some magic anyways.

Thanks Terra!
